I ended up getting CoD4 on my PS3, I hated the PS3 controller for the longest time, but I've gotten used to it by now. I would still prefer mouse+keyboard or even a 360 controller but eh. I'm not about to buy it again for my PC.
I love playing on hardcore because sniping and using the M14 are way more viable and fun.
Hardcore search and destroy is fucking terrible half the time though, because I keep running into people who equip a rocket launcher, look down, and fire at the match start. Soooo fun.
I just got my 360 back in the mail from getting the ethernet port fixed, I should play CoD4 some more, I only played it once before the 360 had to be shipped off.
Anyone remember the godzilla turn based strategy game for NES?

I remember that I never got past Garland in the original FF1. I played it plenty of times too. Running through the town, up through the grass, and into that temple was apparently enough gameplay to keep me entertained. It's weird thinking back on how many times I played that game, now that I know I didn't actually get anywhere into it.
Anyone ever play The Specialists mod for Half Life? Fun shit. Also Action Half Life was great as well.
Hell yeah man, I use to play The Specialists and AHL all the time. Back in the day me and a bunch of dudes on another forum would just wreck havoc in the role play servers that ran that Mecklenberg map. TS Zombies was a lot of fun on that map, too.
Global Warfare, Front Line Force, Desert Crisis...those were the days.

The idea of AHL was way cooler but TS was just a better mod. The newest version of TS was awesome though because it had the restaurant with all the birdcages from Hard Boiled. Just about all of the levels of AHL were so fucking cool, though. I think another mod I played that looked pretty cool but I never got into was Firearms. By the time I got it, no one was really playing it.
Edit: Oh yeah, the Last Man Standing mode on TS (AHL had it as well) was so fucking awesome but no one ever played it except for the DHT clan. The One mode in the newer TS versions was pretty cool too.
Firearms was huge back in the day. 2.4 was even on the CS retail disk.
You guys gotta remember The Opera. Gabe and Tycho were even playable characters. That mod, if it were to have been consistently worked on and made better, would have blown AHL and TS out of the water.
My first computer was a 486. The first PC game I ever played was some PGA golf game where the sound was generated by our 28.8 modem.
The first game I played (that I remember) and actually enjoyed was Syndicate, in like the 5th grade.
Most of my present day favorites are still the oldies, such as Theme Hospital, X-Com, Tie Fighter (which I had to run using HIMEM!), et al.
I guess some people are more dinosauric than me, having played on things like the Commodore, but I still regularly play X-Com and if I had a copy of Tie Fighter still I'd be playing that shit too.
I never played Opera, unfortunately. I remember they were making this other Hong Kong action movie game for HL2 that looked really awesome but I can't remember the name. It was something Chinese. God the HL mod days were so much fucking fun.

Was that by any chance made by EA? I still have a PGA Golf game by EA on floppy disk that I still actually play with my brothers on Christmas. To combat pirating the game, they had a thing where you had to look in the manual where there was a scorecard from the 3 courses and it'd ask you some question like "what is the yardage for hole 3 at TPC Sawgrass?"

i am not sure.
The only distinguishing aspect of the game that I can remember is that every time I hit a sand trap my modem would chortle "he can't be too happy about that one," in all its squawky primitive glory.

Oooooh. That's not a PGA game. That's Leaderboard Golf. I used to love that shit when I was little. "Looks like he hit the tree, Jim." My dad was/is really into golf.
Ohhh dang what's up! The OTF is still around if you are interested.
Is it the firearmsmod2 site? I don't remember if it was 2 or source. I left when all that fiasco was going on.
Nah it was World At War, but now it's just otfnation. forums.otfnation.com if you wanna sign up again (I hope this doesn't count as advertising). I think there will be some people you recognize there.
Fuckin' dude from specialists loved that shit so goddamn much.
I could not beat him using anything that wasn't automatic, cause he fucking dodged all my shots, disarmed me, shot me in the head or flipped over me and dragon kicked the fuck out of me.

They even did that Hard Boiled parody-- Over Easy. The Opera's forums were the first forums I joined. Our computer was terribad at the time though, so I couldn't really play it. By the time I had a computer that could play it, the Opera was on hiatus and there was no one to play with.
Anyone remember the HL1 mod Existence? It was basically like The Matrix.
The Specialists
Action Half-Life
Huh? Neither of those were anything like The Matrix except for a few things. Existence was entirely influenced by The Matrix. TS and AHL were more influenced primarily by John Woo movies specifically, in my opinion. Existence was the Matrix mod.

Unless it takes place outside the matrix, same shit.

Was Existence the game with Agent Gordon, all wearing one of those olive Agent suits and whatnot? The server were always empty when I wanted to try that game. I remember the levels being enormous. Maybe they weren't that large, but they are in my memory.
I played the ever-loving shit out of AHL. It was really broken with the lupara diving, but it could be fun. I wanted to play The Opera, but I was too late. So I settled for AHL.
I remember really having a good time with some post-apoc mod. I can't remember what it was called. Wastes? Wasteland? I remember a 10mm pistol and a rusty katana.
I played Counter Strike obsessively for several years when it was still beta.whatever

God, I remember The Opera. That whole game was rad as Hell.

Fuck you I wanna be the fat guy.
Oops too late.
I still play this.
Fuck yeah
Steam - Talon Valdez :Blizz - Talonious#1860 : Xbox Live & LoL - Talonious Monk @TaloniousMonk Hail Satan
i think i've killed a third as many enemies as ian has
It also had amazing awesome music
Blades of steel had an oddly entrancing "punch the other hockey player" mode, however.
In fact, now that I think of it, that was literally the only reason I ever played that game.
Give him the SMG. Live on the edge.
Great game, even if it is just a Pirates! rip off if i remembered correctly.
But damn I definitely had late nights playing the game.
Goddamn Warcraft mod, also this barbarian invasion mod is lookin good
I am awash in a sea of mods and it is wicked
Also somethin bout odin and naval combat
oh shit forgot: Also this majigger that makes mount and blade 3D, like red/blue glasses 3D.
Oh fuck god

The Specialists
Action Half-Life
Yeah, it's a Half-Life 2 mod, but oh god oh god, it is oh so good.
Cause I couldn't get past the first level at all
One of the reasons why I love it so is because it's absolutely awesome map design.
And it sort of pays homage to one of my favourite games ever, Marathon, which is also another reason why I love the mod.
I could not beat him using anything that wasn't automatic, cause he fucking dodged all my shots, disarmed me, shot me in the head or flipped over me and dragon kicked the fuck out of me.
Dude fucking knew Kung fu
