Why Do People in the UK Hate their Flag?
Posts
Apparently I don't know my ass from an amazon. That's not how I would have pictured them.
And the phrase that one of the Monarch's henchman mangled in the Venture Bros.
I don't think there are any very clear depictions. There are many variations though, I guess.
This is one of the older ones;
and
Fighting the greeks.
The myth about them itself varies, but as seen in the virginia state flag, a popular idea was that they had one breast showing, or even had one breast removed.
Here's a more modern depiction;
The symbol is fairly simple, but it's more what it represents then the symbol itself.

I saw that it was voted 71st of 72 top American and Canadian flags and the 72nd (Georgia) has been replaced. My country of origin (Ukraine) has a pretty boring flag, but I still like it. The presidential one with the tryzub is better:
I feel pretty stupid for not knowing this, but I just realized the Union Flag is a combination of the three nations. I also really like all the different Nordic Cross flags and ones that use historic coats of arms.
That's effing awesome.
You should forward that to FoxNews, it will throw their entire "The Swedes have pure genes" mantra into a tailspin.
Aw, they totally stole that idea from Strongbadia:
It's not like a Nebraskan would know what else to do with a book.
Another one, hi-5!
Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but this is the flag of England:
Though Welsh nationalists dislike that they are the only kingdom of the UK not represented on the Union flag.
I think the Union Jack is a symbol of what the UK once was, and as mentioned, we are no longer the empire we once were and it is only really used as events where citizens are proud to be British such as sporting events.
It's not that most people aren't proud to be British (though most are indifferent), its just perhaps we are more quiet about it.
The trend seems to be changing a bit now, but we'll see if it stabilizes.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
Finland
Denmark
Sweden
England
Norway
Iceland
Woo, we sure like crosses huh.
I think the english flag is St.Georges cross though
The finnish is copied more or less, once they won their independence
The norwegian flag is a variation of the scandinavian cross
the icelandic flag is a relatively modern one, and supposedly they got it when they earned their independence from denmark
Basically, scandinavia is one big "almost the same country", and has been, in fact, fused to the hip earlier in history.
This was the Norwegian-Swedish flag for example, when Sweden owned Norway.
I am amazed that this doesn't come up more really, how can the question 'Does our flag need more Dragons?' ever be answered with 'no'. Course if they wanted to just make the bottom parts green rather than blue then they can go fuck thems- a sheep.

It is a picture of a crowned lion using a trampoline to assault a castle at the top of a lavafall.
Next best on the Spannish national level is the flag of the first republic. Yes, the crown makes it look spiffier in the 1785 naval ensign, but I'm not convinced that level of complexity flies well.
The flag of Valencia is surprisingly effective, given its complexity.
The old flag of Granada is ineresting
I don't think I've seen anything else quite like the Balearic Islands
Outside of Spain, Morocco seems to have a standard format that has prevented any of the regional flags becoming terribly complex, although I must say I prefer their civil ensign (shown) to their national flag, and their oldest flag (shown) really is... something.
Back to the states, the flag of Bostonia is ludicrously bad
Trogdooooor! Burninating the countryside!
Actually, I'd love to see Trogdor take on the Welsh dragon.
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
All books in Nebraska are made out of steel so that they can be used to kill in an emergency.
Also because somebody tried to get fancy with the anvil on the state flag.
The seal makes it more obvious it's not a book, but damnit now I'm going to have to point it out to people now.

It only became the "nordic cross" once we had all adopted denmarks design
It's pretty weird really.
Morocco has had a history of bad flags.
I think they come from flags that were originally shield designs. e.g. if you turn the flag clockwise 90 degrees it's a christian cross.
