Tremble, fellow Omeganauts, and despair; I have purchased a Connect Four set. Fear my checker shuffling skills and semicolon usage.

Also I picked up my own Wii, finally. I was going to get one next month, but Omegathon is a great excuse to get one now.

Having participated in two Omegathons, I can tell you it's no joke. I didn't get any sleep the night before round 5 (Puzzle Quest) in my first go round. Then to have to play Halo 3 in the finals after never touching a Halo game in my life...yeah, that sucked hard.

Not to pimp my site out too much, but here are some videos showing the 07 event and my impressions:

    http://www.mondaynightcrew.com/extras.html

Also, here is most of the 08 Omegathon rounds from my youtube page:

    http://www.youtube.com/MNCDover

Honestly, luck plays a large part in this tournament, but the people who take it seriously are going to get further. That means getting all of the games and playing them a lot. For the games you aren't that good at (Quake 3 FPS for me in 07), just remember that you don't have to be first. You just have to do well enough to not be eliminated.

And for the round 4 rhythm game, practice all the instruments you can and pray you don't have partners that suck. Rock Band put me out last year and I was super pissed. It took my friends quite a while to calm me down. But at the end of the day, it just wasn't meant to be.

Hope that didn't stress you guys out! :) Remember to have fun!

PS: If anyone wants any advice or anything I'll gladly help out. PM me any questions you got.

Will any rhythm game be good practice (I've been trying to get better hand eye coordination by playing a few that are on the ipod touch) or will it just not help with actually playing one of the game instruments?

    I can sing at least...

I really hope we don't have to use the wii wheels for mario kart! I was never able to get the hang of those...

Oh thank you for bringing that up. I was talking with Gabe and Tycho before the first Rock Band event and asked them why they chose the games they did. They had some good reasoning and I accepted it. As I was about to walk away they said and I quote:

"Don't forget you are here for the sole purpose of our amusement."

Therefore, you better get yourself a Wii Wheel out and start practicing now.

That's an interesting collection of games... Omeganauts, start brushing up on your vocabulary for Bookworm Adventures and reference some game strategy for Connect Four. I suspect that the Round 4 game will be Beatles: Rock Band, so if you practice harmony singing while playing an instrument, I'm sure your teammates will love you. Hopefully if they do go with Beatles: Rock Band, they have it set up where vocal harmonies is an option.

And the final round... retro? or new? Hopefully they stick with the retro games, they work well for the Omegathon Final Rounds.

Congrats to all the Omeganauts. Wonderful as always to have some faces in the mix that we'll recognize. Practice hard... and honor those that have come before you. They have left a legacy, and you will no doubt continue the tradition! Good luck!

I think that they will go with DJ Hero. It's single player orientated so the omeganauts won't have to rely on other bandmates, and no one has played it yet so it's impossible to practice.

I say if they're going to throw us for a loop they should throw us for a loop! The rhythm game in that case would be Parappa the Rapper.

For all you Omeganauts who are thinking of practicing the games on the schedule, Bookworm Adventures Deluxe is apparently only $10 on Steam right now. I've just picked it up after playing the demo on PopCap Games' site; I'll see if I can come up with some speculation regarding what the round will entail.

That can be classified as a rhythm game, right?

Until someone makes "the jump" and gains a 45 second lead. That used to be the only "allowable" cheat in my gaming circle because it was such a high risk maneuver.

It's going to be Beatles... The only other reason to keep it a secret is if its DJ Hero. But a rockband style game has been pretty much a staple lately.

Actually the other reason I can think of, of keeping it a secret is so you don't necessarily practice one particular game or instrument.
