To any who won the B-Spec Historic Racing Car Cup at Monaco: Who the flip did you manage it? What car did you use?

I thought a car with HP in the 700s and a weight in the 600s (The Toyota 7) would easily lay some smack down. Hell, it's even got some decent aero kit to achieve some decent downforce. However my moronic AI driver continues to hit the flipping guardrail and stop DEAD not only on the turn into the pool chicane after the tunnel but also on the final damn turn onto the finish line straight. The dumb ass constantly tries to pass on the inside on these to corners... and no others. Then it's all "hey I can do this on the outside!" I have run this race at least 20 times (not all to completion mind you - after a second or third smack into the guardrail head on I tend to lose my patience) and the best I can get is second. Is the Chaparral 2J 'the' car for this low-gear grinder of a course?

You have to constantly tell your guy to maintain at those turns and ONLY try to overtake on the straightaway or up the hill just after it... it's a bitch and a half to be sure, but other than getting a 2J for yourself (which I believe is 15 million if it ever shows up in used) the 7 is your only real choice. Also, try setting your gearing in the transmission to max, means it will only have 4 real gears at that point, makes everything a LOT smoother for the driver instead of constantly having to switch gears after the tight turns.

Oh, and there's an old wives tale that if you can get the 2J to show up in the 3rd row at the start, it will make things infinitely more easy as it's pre-ordained to crash or be a really shitty driver and hit walls constantly... I, myself, didn't have that happen because my idiot driver decided to stay behind the slowest car at the start and let EVERYBODY pass him, thus immediately sending me on a 10 minute f-bomb rant and quitting the damn game until the patch comes out tomorrow.

Experience gain increase? Shit, a few weeks too late for me. Oh well, if I ever try to get through the endurance races, that might help.

What's the power point system? I hadn't heard of it.

Does anyone want to borrow a lv40 B-spec driver? I'm not sure of how the loaning thing works, but that should help someone grind through some races.

Last, but not least, they finally added an "ARE YOU SURE Y/N" when you do the restart race option... so no more whining from people since you can no longer "accidentally" just screw yourself over.

As for the experience gain, it comes at the cost of credits as the amount of credits has gone down, but that is now overcome by the re-addition of the old style Seasonal Races with big credit payouts as well as the ones that were just introduced hence a sorta Seasonal Races 7.5

And yeah, the OD now has the same amount of cars as the UD, and so you'll still find quite a few shitty ones in the OD as well as ones that you still might need that are very hard to get... like here's a sampling of a few of the higher valued ones on there currently:

    FGT - Orange
    XJR-9 LM Race Car '88
    Veyron 16.4 '09
    205 Turbo 16 Rally Car '85
    Delta S4 Rally Car '85
    155 2.5 V6 TI '93
    CLK Touring Car '00
5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car '85
Astra Touring Car (Opel Team Phoenix) '00
Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02
    Woodone Tom's Supra '03
    Castrol Mugen NSX '00

These are the things I've wanted the most, especially number 1; now I don't need to look through the spreadsheet I made to find out if I have to waste money on that particular MX-5 (which I probably have all but about 3 of, now). I think I might put my 2J up for sharing, too.

    Official release notes.

A ton of changes in this release, but here's a few I'm sure will make a lot of people happy:
    [AI Adjustment]
    - Race choreography and opponent car AI controls for licence tests and A Spec events have been adjusted.
    - Opponent car AI controls during B Spec races have been improved.
    - The evasive manoeuvres of opponent cars when a players car blocks the track has been improved.

OK so. Remote racing only works if you have a shared B-Spec driver, and your friends have B-Spec drivers shared as well. So EVERYBODY SHARE YOUR B-SPEC DRIVERS!

I am not yet sure if the friends need to be in remote racing as well for it to work, but I can test later maybe?

And I've only checked one (Indy 500), but the Credits actually increased 22,000. Can't tell how much more experience though.

So here is what i have discovered. One person needs to have GT5 on, and in server remote mode, accessible via the profile section of GT5 my home on the ps3. The other people need to have just have shared a driver, and need to be on your friends list. once started, the person with the ps3 on goes to the gt5 website, logs in in the upper right, hits the big blue button in the middle, chooses a race, and then you choose friends to race. The race chooses cars for you, chooses everything, you can't tell it to pace up/down/etc. It takes about 30 seconds - 1 minute to start the race. Once it's done, takes about the same time to clean up. Also, there is something about grabbing the XP for your driver on the site, after this race, i'll check it out.

Here is the remote race screen
Lap progress. Starts from beginning of driver name, goes to end of Laps. Does not move in realtime, jumps every 10/15 seconds or so
    Total moves in realtime.

ok, small update. when you exit the races, you can go to the same screen where you share your driver, and choose receive prizes. 2 races done, came in first on both (sorry icemopper), 5lap and a 10 lap, 10k credits, and some exp. not bad for doing even less imho

Wow! For E. Norton being level 0 and yours being 18, I'm quite proud of him!

I'm wondering if he got any experience for that...

And yes, my PS3 is turned off, so eric was able to race against my driver while I was not signed into remote race. Thanks for checking eric!

you dont gain exp until you receive prizes. I've done about 5 or 6 races so far, and his exp doesn't change. You also don't get money until you receive prizes as well.

I should have put A. Bender up for races, that might have made it more challenging... maybe I can try from the website?

From what I can gather then on remote races they're in a separate space from the B-Spec events? Or can you run say the Endurance races remotely? I would love to run 24h Le Mans from work!

    Nope, can't do it.

These races are pre-determined and have nothing to do with the B-Spec events. Very very unfortunate, in my opinion. I'd much rather let him go through plenty of races while I'm not home than have to choose them from the couch each and every time.

I'm glad we get to level our driver up and everything, but I wish we could actually progress through the game like this.

Started a 5 car remote race against some people I know from my Ridge Racer 7 days, only to find that my supposedly above average driver completely sucks. A level 36 versus a 33, 35, 37, and an aged 37 (called M.Schumacher), and he's flat last. Useless bastard.

I notice I don't have deveric and Icemopper on my list... I'll have to fix that shortly, after my driver's done failing. I'll have to add Hooverfan too, since I've set my Chaparral 2J and Toyota 7 to be shared.

    Add'd!

And PP is now included in the tuning shop to show what kind of tuning you're doing on all parts including weight reduction and whatnot.

For example, when installing engine upgrade stage 3 my HP goes from 307 to 317, and my PP goes from 477 to 482.

And WOW! Tuning is so much faster! There are still the menus for "Purchase?" "Install?" and "Installed!" but now they go much faster if you're smashing X.

EDIT: Wow actually everything is SO much faster. This is really great!

Okay, X2010 Nürburgring is still a pain, even with the new bronze time; took about 20 tries before I even managed 2 clean laps, thanks to the bumpiest road surface that isn't Le Mans. Monza took 2 tries. Now to try Suzuka...

EDIT - 5 tries later, and done. Now I have a spare X2010 to share. :)
