hell I remember in uni in the US we had people in bikinis lying around on our campus' various grass quads at 54F
that's like 12C
people who think sunbathing is an acceptable use of their time should be euthanised.
A girl at my work was sunbathing on her lunch break on one of those 40+ degree days we had over summer, it was ridiculous. Tans are overrated anyway.
I always hate when people defend tanning by saying it makes you "look healthy"
sure, cooking your skin until its natural emergency defence system kicks in, exponentially increasing your chances of preventable, deadly cancer, and irreparably damaging your skin, making it resemble something like crocodile hide by the time you're 40 is healthy as fuck.

I was always taught that the easier it is for you to tan (NOT BURN THEY ARE DIFFERENT THINGS), the lower your chance of getting skin cancer
where as if you don't tan but you go straight to burn you are a pretty high risk for skin cancer
but yes too much intense sun exposure that does not suit your skin will pretty much encourage your skin to look and feel like a basketball when you hit your mid-30s
that said yeah sunblock should be used all the time if you're going out into high UV exposure (not even just bright sunlight)
I usually get a tan even WITH sunblock on, but I've only gotten one sunburn in my life... and this includes living a chunk of years in the tropics and swimming outdoors under the sun four days a week and forgetting to put on sunblock!

honestly I like being tanned because it hides all the bullshit on my skin
the fairer I am the more obvious my eczema and scars become and it makes me all sad
winter is nice because I'm wearing plenty of clothes to cover shit up, but when I look at myself in the mirror it's pretty heartbreaking... and in the summer when you wear less the only way I'm secure is when my skin is darker and the scars and stuff are harder to see

it honestly varies from day to day depending on how good I feel about myself in general
sometimes it doesn't bother me at all, I love the shape of my legs so I don't mind wearing skirts
other days I get all insecure and weepy when someone asks if I have the chickenpox and so I end up wearing jeans for two straight weeks because of it
some days I feel fat, other days I feel sexy; some days I feel pretty, other days I feel ugly
usually there's a trigger that clicks... like the chickenpox question, or I just saw an awful picture of my face, or a picture of me looking fat, etc
if I were to be absolutely honest with myself, like purely objective, I'd say I was a reasonably pretty girl with a bitchin' jawline, a pretty fun and outgoing and friendly and caring personality, and slamming curves who could have a flatter stomach and thinner arms and clearer skin
Yeah my gf will always say stuff like "but you're so much better looking than me why are you going out with me?" and "I'm not really that pretty, my sister is the pretty one" etc etc
And I just sit there going "goddamn woman, are we even talking about the same person here? Are you perhaps looking into some magical mirror that distorts what you're seeing infront of you?"
I mean sure, she's not supermodel material, but then again, like less than 1% of the population is, and compared to what alot of girls her age look like, I'd say she is much closer to the top of the scale than the middle of it and certainly nowhere near the bottom.
I just get the impression that you girls always judge yourselves much more harshly then you deserve in most cases. I think there was something I saw once where a bunch of ladies were asked to self-judge how "fat" they were, and pretty much all of them imagined themselves to be a considerable size larger than what they were in reality.
god forbid people partake in activities that require exposure to the sun for prolonged amounts of time
I think to be fair you still need to be careful about what you're doing... Australia is sort of under a big gaping hole in the Ozone, as most people seem to forget. Our Sun here is a tad more dangerous than the sun you'd get over the other side of the planet.

oh yeah, fair call. but to write off tanned skin completely is stupid - like viv said, you can still get a tan when you use sunscreen.

Bugger your Ozone hole, I know people from Queensland who laughed when I suggested they put a hat on their kid when he was playing outside on a cloudy day here once.
Sure enough, the next day - pink scalp. They were like "But - there were clouds!" and I was all like "Yes. AND NO OZONE".

Maybe in the land of spiders and dragons, but here in the real world...
Also 77F/25C is by no means freezing.
I know
25C is not freezing at all, for fuck's sake I used to live in Beijing and Illinois
I MAY NOT KNOW FREEZING LIKE CANADIANS KNOW IT, BUT I KNOW FREEZING
According to the weather channel, such extreme temperatures are known as "hot" or "warm"
Anything hotter and it starts to get too uncomfortable/cancerous.
But my lady says that anything under 22 degrees is "jumper weather"
also:
fags.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
yeah, 25C is my favourite temperature
it's soooo perfect and comfy
(it is an exact multiple of 5 and plus in F it is 77 degrees which is my favourite number TWICE heehee oh god help me I'm insane)
I am totally unashamed to be the biggest girly girl about this
you know temperature has basically nothing to do with skin cancer right
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
18C
maybe less if it means snow.

my two year wedding anniversary is coming up
I will outgirly girl you by about 10 orders of magnitude
that's like 12C
Shit.
(awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! whatcha got planned?)
picturing you in a bikini........ now
ooh la la

Yeh, I know, but there's a correlation.
Edit: editing this because apparently I might be incorrect and I don't want to look like a complete ass.

shrug
I never had a problem getting a tan, a 20-minute swim in Singapore usually does it for me
not much outside of gift exchanges through the mail, unfortunately
we'll have to do proper celebrating later this summer
still, I am excited
aww I thought you guys were gonna get to see each other
I'm sure it'll be quite nice even so though
when does all the paperwork and stuff get sorted?
I am mostly being stupid.
25 degrees is not cold.
I would not classify it was warm though.

edit: You know it's probably no-where near as bad as you think it is, this is what I always tell my gf, but fuck being rational I guess.
But still, it's so silly.
