It's okay, I'd use it a lot if I had to worry about ammo but I've got a class mod that gives like a +18 ammo regen rate and has a +25% accuracy bonus or something like that.
Man I found a combat rifle when I was like level 32 that did 200+ damage and had good accuracy and good rate of fire. I'm still using it like fourteen levels later and halfway through my second playthrough. I cannot find good weapons most of the time.
I got a pretty good SMG from a quest, it's not green or anything but it does like 160 damage, has a 10 or 12 rate of fire, good recoil reduction and is pretty accurate. No scope though but that's fine.
Multishot revolvers fucking own, as do shotguns that go boom (not rockets because splash damage is all messed up, the elemental ones). As a hunter I haven't really come across any really good sniper rifles though. The stupid 10 billion times crit damage but haha fuck you only 80% accuracy! ones are annoying and stupid.
I found a sweet orange shotgun that was x4 corrosive and had a special descriptor which, when I looked it up, said that it caused the gun to basically proc the corrosive on almost every shot. I hosed a lot of bandits with that thing.

I am nearing the point in the game on the 2nd playthrough where I found the thing during my first, and nothing else I have comes close to the dps it has, except at suuuuper long range.

It is a x2, but I'm a siren so it happens pretty often, and holds 12 rounds.
