It's not the amount of energy so much as the time it takes to transfer it.
That being said, any fart that happens as quickly as the chain reaction in an atomic bomb will, much like the atomic bomb, leave nothing of you save for a shadow on the wall.
Beavo, get a border collie. They are perfect inside dogs- they're quiet and don't need a lot of exercise.
In fact, get two border collies.
Are you joking? They're working dogs??
Edit; I mean they're great dogs, but I would not say they are apartment dogs that don't need a lot of exercise.
editedit: Infact I would say the opposite

I really don't like pet fish.
You can't pet them!
Thus they are less like pets.
And more like lava lamps.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
You can't pet lots of pets. Chameleons for one. Stick bugs. Most bugs, really. Frogs. (And you can pet fish, mine want to be pet, but its bad for their slime coats so I refuse when they rub up against my hand)
wow guys thanks so much for all the great advice!
I'm going to meet the woman and her dogs in three weeks to see how i feel
humble really wants a husky, but i feel that they're a much more unreasonable apartment dog
I personally adore all dogs, particularly big ones you can play with.
i've done a lot of reading, and yeah you're all right, big doggies seem to do okay in small places!
and yeah between the two of us, he'll definitely get 2 walks a day, there's 2 giant off leash dog parks right near us. Even if we're feeling lazy, just drive him down, let him out to run around with other dogs while we sit and gossip with crazy dog owners. I used to do it with my old dog to get him more socialized to other animals and people.
I'm worried that our place is...well it's small, I'm worried about ryan and I... maybe we won't have enough space with a monster dog around hahah, but if they're pretty low key animals, I'm sure it won't be an issue.
Cake: Drool: Well, I mean I used to have a Great Dane, and he was a drooly pooch, but obviously not as bad as a newf or a mastiff. It's definitely something that we're going to think about, but honestly, I feel like every breed comes with their major obstacles, if it's not drooling, it's tendency to bark, or having super smelly farts (bostons and frenchies are apparently fart monsters) so i mean, the compromise has to be met somewhere. There is no carpeting anywhere in our apartment.
Car: I drive a 4 door 2008 honda civic. I feel like the back seat should be big enough for him but hmm this is a good question that you raise!
Food: There are two of us footing the bill for this, so food and vet bills are definitely something we're considering. I was pricing big bags of large breed dog food in the pet store today.
My dad owns two restaurants, so he gets bulk pricing at a wholesaler on food, which actually makes a huge difference with stuff like that, so I'll probably be able to cut the cost down pretty well if i get my dad to pick up food for me.
stairs: we have an elevator and our building is pet friendly, there was a lab in there the other day, so it'll be fine.
Just made 40$ doing grant application packets for people. Essentially filling out a pdf with an image contact sheet, burning it to a cd and presto. Roughly $20/hr.

Huskies are big, and they're super friendly, but they have more energy than 600 dogs of any other breed combined. You don't want a husky in an apartment.

Me and Mrs Mustang want to get a british bulldog but they're insanely expensive (like $3000AUD) and overheat really easily. So I'd have to run the air-con around the clock in summer. So i think we'll get a cocker/springer spaniel and train him to hump the hell out of peoples legs who are called Kevin.
newfies are awesome and the best dogs ever and also the biggest dogs you can get without having to run marathons regularly

There's a fucking toolbag in H/A who's butthurt because he got an HIV test done before he signed the consent form for it.
I really want to call him an idiot for not demanding his blood and urine back after they were done testing it, because they're probably running even more tests on it right now. Hell, they're probably performing voodoo fucking rituals using his blood and they still have yet to send him a consent form for that. Goddamn, you gotta keep track of your body bits, people.
Fucking tool.

Yeah... i don't understand his complaint. Did he not want to know the results of said test? I guess, at worst, he has HIV and whatever he was applying for won't accept him now. But you know, that's the kinda thing that happens when you have HIV and its no wonder the company wanted him tested for it, even if the paperwork got lost in the shuffle.

What blows me the fuck away is that they're taking fucking blood out of his arm and not once does he think to himself, "Hey, do I have any secrets in my blood that I might not want these people to know about?" If it's yes, then you shouldn't get your fucking blood taken.

Maybe Have him play with an akita? Akita's can be pretty damn similar looking, but have a much calmer temperament. They have a different set of socialization issues because they have a reputation of being bound to their owners, and so you have to really get in there and socialize them early if you want them to be friendly to people outside your family. They are excellent dogs, but sometimes get lumped in that aggressive group (with Pitts and German shepards) so check to make sure they're aren't regulations against them. They also have a decent life span for a big dog. I believe 12-13 years.
I just received a large package from my parents, stuffed to the brim with some high-grade barbecue straight from the Lone Star State.
Seeing as how I literally have nothing left in my fridge at this point, this was practically a godsend. It's been ages since i've had even halfway decent BBQ, and now i'm dining on pulled pork so delectable its borderline insidious.
And I want more. My appetite for this stuff is practically insatiable.
Got me thinking about my grandma's cooking. My grandma used to make a chicago style deepdish meatball pizza. From scratch. I need to get me some of that.
My mum makes a bunch of Mexican food I can't spell or pronounce correctly. Its guaranteed though to keep my room 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house.
I wish I read more graphic novels. I used to read the different Captain America series' and the new Conan pretty religiously, then after I enlisted I just kinda stopped... I need to get back into it.

Yeah, my sister had a malamute for a while (similar temperament) and it was smart as all hell, but damn it could be a right little hyperactive shithead. She had to find a new home for it when she got a fulltime job and an apartment with no yard, because there was no way she had enough time to exercise it and it would have torn apart the house. Also, apparently those breeds have constant dominance issues which you really have to get on top of early, especially since they're pretty strong.
On the other hand, if you hitched its lead to your bike handles it'd drag you up a hill.
akitas are gorgeous dogs
and oh god, shiba inus
i was so glued to puppy cam it was absurd.
the woman wrote us back and said we sound like a great home for a mastiff, so i made an appointment to go meet her and her dogs on march 13th.
her puppies will be 6 weeks at that point! oh maaaaan!
also: SNOOOOOWWWWW DAAAAAAY!
I am actually going to relax for a bit today.
So very very excited!
IU refused to cancel classes despite the fact that we got the kind of snowfall we haven't seen in over a decade, despite the fact they canceled classes last year when it snowed half this much
Seriously, a foot may not seem like that much to the rest of the world, but it can be pretty overwhelming to street crews that are used to almost no snow at all during the winter.
I really want to learn how to cook some awesome stuff.
I mean, I have a few staple dishes that I make pretty well, but you know. I want to impress potential mates with awesome foodyness. I want a dish to blow people away with when I first have them over for dinner.

They're ridiculously lively little animals. I've held meaningful conversations with this dog.

EDIT: Actually, I wouldn't mind reading a bit of steampunk some time. Anyone got any recommendations for books (not graphic novels)?
