Eh, I could see Phil being obsessed with crap like that.
Does anyone else get a bit bothered when they do one of those "in memory of" and then you have no idea who it is? I just get this malaise that's a mix of feeling bad and confusion.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
Claire calling out her daughter for being a little manipulative bitch was awesome. I think that was my favorite part and wish more parents would do that.
My daughter is going to hate me when she gets older.
The car incident was pretty funny too. Nice that someone with that much money wasn't too pissed off about the damage.
Overall though, this episode wasn't as good as many of the others. However, this show at that level is still very watchable and I still laughed.
The rich guy was Andy from Weeds. He's the best part of Weeds.
I REEEEEEEEEALLY hope he stays on Modern Family as the boss.
"THE BEARD IS GO."
I knew he looked familiar, but couldn't place him. I love that he didn't particularly care about the car damage (most shows would have used it as a reason he didn't get the job).
Bahahaha Claire's revenge on her daughter was fantastic.
One thing that bugged me about the episode was the way Claire left the first basketball game and Cam and Mitchell immediately show up from the other direction.
I'm always surprised at how this show should just be your run-of-the-mill formulaic sitcom, but somehow I always end up pleasantly surprised at the subtle ways they turn the formula on its head. I can see why it gets compared to Arrested Development even though they're not really anything alike... both have really tight writing that stays a couple steps ahead of me.
Or maybe I'm just stupid and I should've seen it coming that...

Yeah I think it's the sense of humor / writing that draws the comparison. In fact I was struck by the similarities this very episode...
The whole thing with Jay's doorbell not working snowballing up to the machete guy at the window felt very AD-esque

It's done in a very similar mocumentary style, so the comparisons are inevitable. MF's writing isn't really at the same level, but it's pretty good.
I like the fact that all the men in Phil's family act the same. First Phil and Luke being the only ones amused at certain things, and now Phil and Frank only amusing each other.
Somehow this show manages to twist what I'd consider 'predictable' around so that it just feels like all the characters are written consistently. Even though I could see every Luke joke and the twist with the machete-guy coming, they were still funny and pulled off well. Like Talka said.
My DVR keeps cutting off the last minute or so, so I always miss the end jokes. Same with Community. Boo...

Can't you set them to record an extra minute or two? There are a number of shows we have done that with. Modern family being one of them.
I think something starts recording right after, and it pops up a big warning if you try to go over into the next hour. I should double check, though...

Ah, bummer. I have a few conflicts too.
So, I read the description on my on screen cable guide for this weeks episode. Is the finale a two part episode this and next week, or is this week the last one?
I don't know why you're spoiling who the actor that plays Phil's dad is, he was shown during the Christmas episode.
Also, I know its probably been mentioned, but I think MF absolutely destroys the serious nature of the ING commercial or w.e it is that has the actor who plays Luke sitting down to play chess.

I keep waiting for him to go "wait, so why does the horse only move in an L shape, that's stupid" whenever I see that commercial now.
Favorite part of tonight's episode was when Haley got the text from Dylan: "I'm trapped." And then she went on to complain about how emotional he was when in fact texting her about how he was stuck in the house.

No way.
Oh man, my mind has been blown. He was such a silly goose in that movie.
He is just a grown up kid.
His interaction with the son was awesome.

I assumed it would be spelled "Flyza."
I went back and forth, honestly. I landed (!) on Fliza since it seemed closer to Liza while still incorporating the pun.
I can't believe I'm writing this much.

I laughed for 2 minutes I think.
EDIT: Laughing again now.
best delivery ever
Jay fell for the blitzkrieg? Doesn't everybody try that the first time they play someone?
Yeah, I loved that.
I wasn't a big fan of the iPad placement, but whatever, they made it work.
The shovel line was the best moment.
FUCK.YES.
This looks so good! lately on aussy tv weve been getting laugh track heavy gay ass american sitcoms. i love stuff like this .
OP you are god thank you, thank you for bringing this to my attention.
What did everyone think?

but pretty fun overall
"What?"
Thump!
The stupidest jokes in this show crack me up. I don't know why.

"You pretty much have to."
One thing that bugged me about the episode was the way Claire left the first basketball game and Cam and Mitchell immediately show up from the other direction.
perfect

It just seemed so perfect.

Best moment from last week's was the kid in the band, "Dude, you should get those sticks labeled."
This week was Alex laughing so hard she fell off the couch.

Trying to keep Lilly awake was also funny. And so true to life...
