my favorite thing about homestuck is that I can't even begin to speculate how it is going to end. There are just too many possibilities. And we're just over a mere 2 acts from completion. It's going to be fantastic.
Technically, Bec was never meant to exist at all. The only reason she does is because Dave let Jack and his crew get their hands on the genetic code, and because DD accidentally fused the code with Harley's ecto-slime.
Somehow I doubt the Guardians are created though unintended shenanigans.
Doc Scratch's existence raises a question. Where was during the Midnight Crew intermission?

I'm going to take a step back from everything and say that the conspiracy theories with homestuck is pretty freaking ridiculous.
I know, its incredible right? Homestuck is orchestrated in such a way that makes such a line of discussion possible and able to flourish and still seem possible.
What springs to mind is the guy that used the hex codes to 'figure out' the 'secrets' of the trolls.
The first two or three seemed like it could fit.
Then the further down the rabbit hole it went you saw the depths of insanity.

Okay, cool. Man, thinking about it there is so much complexity to Homestuck, so many balls constantly in the air, it is amazing how many loose ends have already been tied and how many new ones that facilitates in turn. Sometimes I wonder if Hussie feels as if he is writing himself into a corner, but he's managed such authorial feats prior I have faith in him.
Suffice to say, reading Homestuck and firmly believing it will all make sense in the end is walking down a dark staircase, sturdy as it may be.

A first guardian is typically almost as old as the planet itself, and each has a unique, circuitous origin through the knots of paradox space.

Bec can't really be anything but Earth's first guardian. A) he was transported to basically the beginning of Earth by one of the skaian meteors. the pup's omnipotence flashes are identical to Scratches. That isn't mere coincidence.

Although I would advise saving in png rather than jpg
Or, if JPG, then JPG with the quality slider turned up more to get rid of the macroblocking artifacts. At those dimensions, PNG is fine, but for larger pieces filesize becomes a concern.
Don't worry I have both a png and Gimp copy of that pic. What I placed was a screengrab.

Really the big question we've been pondering is whether or not all of the first guardians are there to bring about Lord English's creation or if it is just Doc Scratch. The more previous pages sort of indicate the latter, as a guardian does nothing but what they themselves want. They can't be simply told to do anything. I bet you could manipulate one to do what you wanted if you were smart enough, but nothing direct.
So a guardian has to willingly follow Lord English. If they all want to follow Lord English, and it is their purpose for existing, then they don't really have free will or choices at all.

Okay, I'm reading the thread: the Homesticker's guardians weren't ever referred to as guardian's until much later, perhaps as a product of fan-chat?

The trolls live on a backward ass planet and each guardian is supposed to facilitate the ultimate purpose of the planet.
In the troll language, 'friend' is the same word as 'enemy'

Nanna told us about Guardians in act 2 or 3. I don't think Dad and them were every specifically named the Guardians till later, but it's probably safe to assume that was always the intention.

no, they referred to john's dad as his guardian pretty early on
Actually it was a point of discussion as to whether or not the Intermission happens on Alternia or not. Someone had pictures of the moons and such to back it up.

the troll hex discussion
What if Vriska does beat him, maybe with some help?

kay that's too much
16 days after Homestuck launched:
no, they referred to john's dad as his guardian pretty early on
It's OK. I've been posting too much enough for both of us.
It can't be
Doc Scratch lives on the Green Moon, but the Intermission takes place on Alternia
Bec has spatial manipulation powers. Couldn't Scratch, or even Lord English, move it to Alternia?
I had no money and was there with my parents and little sister, do you think I was otherwise enjoying myself?
And I guess I was confused because one person was wrong, I am validated in my conclusions now.
kay I think you're fine
The answer is normally yes and makes me want to get a smartphone.
No it's at home that I apparently think about it entirely too much. GOOD NIGHT THREAD
Me next.
Who's he going to side with?
I mean, ordinarily I'd say that he'd side with the kids, no contest, but thus far nothing's gone the way I expected...
he seemed really into keeping Jade away from Sburb
