Wriggle's Lantern is by one of the the best items in the game:
- All components 450 gold or less. Check.
- Gives you Attack Damage, Lifesteal, and Armor, all of which are awesome on many characters. Check.
- Has an amazing passive for jungling / dragon / baron. Check.
- Has an active for infinite free wards. Check.
I've been buying it on basically every character that uses AD. Just finished a game w/ it on Mord, and it was great, esp. as their most dangerous person was shaco, so my 3K HP / 200 armor + Thornmail + life leech + being mord made fed shaco a trivial fight.
The notable downside is that taking it instead of Madred's Bloodrazors is a difficult decision. Bloodrazors are terrifyingly powerful additions to most attack damage DPSers.
In fairness, I've been getting it on tanks, who I think it offers a better ability assortment. Shen, for example, benefits from all the stats, and the passive, as he is naturally good at picking up slack in the jungles, including fast solo dragons. This is doubly effective due to his ultimate, so increased jungle / creep pushing is extra useful as you don't need to be with your team to be able to participate in team fights.
It also lets you Baron a bit earlier than you would normally be able, esp. when you have multiple Wriggles / Madreds on a team.
Supposedly there is a bug where you can use skins you don't have. I haven't tried it out yet - I was going to try and preview some of the other Sivir skins tonight though:
I think it only works in ranked games. What you do is pick a character that you have an alternate skin for, and select the skin but don't "lock in" your character choice. You then select a different champion and lock in your choice. I'm guessing it retains the skin choice corresponding to the slot you picked on the other character or something.
Again, this is just something I read on the forums. I'm sure they will patch it soon. I know I'd really like to see if some skins are worth it at all in a video/playtest way than by some super zoomed in screenshot.
I can vouch for this working in non-ranked games, just tried Nottingham Ez out
I just noticed there are some people that unlock for less than the paltry number of IP I have accumulated... is there anybody that is highly recommended for a n00b out of the following:
Ashe
Nunu
Soraka
Master Yi
Kayle
Sivir
I think I've decided Sokara doesn't really suit me, and while Master Yi has dominated some of the games I've been in... I think he's a little too popular for my tastes... I'd like to have a good shot at being able to pick anybody I unlock.
And everyone loves Street Hoops! Its just a nice way to kick back and relax. And do amazingly nasty things to teams who don't realize that like half the champions are at a marked disadvantage.
Ashe is pretty much the most noob-friendly champ there is.
Except for that whole get-crushed-instantly-by-anybody-that-decides-to-attack-you bit.
She is quite easy to play though. Volley a lot, ECA mans from across the map, try to stay out of range of everybody on the opposing team.
You might also consider Sivir though, she'll give you some excellent practice with skillshots, while not being (quite) as horrifyingly squishy as Ashe is. Spell Shield and On the Hunt provide some moderately decent survivability.
Sivir is better at AE damage, killing towers, and team support. Ashe is better at chasing people down and helping other teammates catch enemy champions.
We had this whole massive discussion on it a thread or so ago but the take away is this:
1) Beefy melee characters like Mundo/Garen/XZ/Jax etc are awesome because they can survive without gimping their damage output.
2) Champs with built in blinks like Ez/Kassadin/Shaco are awesome because so much of the area is open to ganks from either jungle section and wall hopping will save your life. They are also coincidentally champs that do just filthy amounts of damage.
If you aren't in Team Fat or Team Blink and don't realize that you are now basically a fragile bag of gold you will die die die until a comeback is pretty much out of the question.
Tanks also work to an extent because they are tough sons of bitches and most have great skills for deciding its time for an enemy to die. Singed and Shen are assholes on TT and I've seen really great Malphites and Blitzs who blur the line between tank and beefy melee initiator and are a pain.
Sometimes it's nice to play one of those games where the k:d doesn't go out of control (40+ hello), and you play a real technically solid match and win before 18 or high-end items.
Sivir is better at AE damage, killing towers, and team support. Ashe is better at chasing people down and helping other teammates catch enemy champions.
I tried Sivir first... and have enough points to buy Ashe second. Can't say I've had a huge amount of success with her, but my team won twice despite my incompetence, and that was enough to buy Ashe... so that was nice.
EDIT: Might as well post it here: Anyone got tips for Poppy during the laning phase? I know melee carry are usually painful at first, but I swear to god I can't effectively lane at all without being ATTACK MAGNET EVERYBODY COME KILL THE GIRL AND HER HAMMER.

if you got lichbane you go
ult -> autoattack
alpha strike -> auto attack
are you dying? meditate to full -> auto attack
no? Wuju Style -> auto attack
because it does like 400 damage each time
otherwise its alpha strike to poke until your team engages and then ult and go for a killing blow with alpha strike
basically need to get the killing blow to stay relevant in the fight since it doubles your damage output
zhonyas or just meditate should make you sit there until its ready again

Or should I just save my points?

heh, scrub :j
if only I had a skin that didn't occupy the second slot!!
oh fuck yes
I was totally gonna try this too, but we needed a tank
I went AP and literally (literally) would drop singed from 100% to dead in 2 seconds
it is insane single target burst
basically invincible veigar

why isn't everyone playing shaco all the time
I can't play her. At all.
Her abilities make perfect sense but I just keep getting creamed with her. Which is too bad, too, because the Woad Ashe skin is pretty slick.

the one that does + damage equal to your AP
Also as Singed Poppy is one of the few characters I'm legitimately afraid of.

sunfire garen is bahlin status.
pick a character you have a skin for
choose the skin (dont lock in)
switch characters

lock in character
give turrets a timer or something
