I also saw the episode where Data dates some nameless ship officer and she breaks up with him at the end and it's like AWWW poor data, and then he has spot and you get the idea he isn't completely devoid of desire or emotion.

Why oh why did they have such awful Irish stereotypes on the show? The Irish colonists on Next Gen who set fire to the Enterprise trying to cook their dinner was bad enough, but then years later Voyager decides to have an entire episode set in the holodeck in a godawful Irish village. I cringed so much I got muscle spasms.
Come on, O'Brien was a great character.
Actually yes. O'Brien was fantastic. His whole friendship with Bashir became so enjoyable to watch over the years.
Indeed. DS9 was so. so. good in that regard. As it was said, there were so many good support characters, most shows didn't even have a main cast that interesting.
On a related note, was I the only one who found it funny that bashir was acted pretty badly at the beginning, and later you find out he's actually (major spoiler)
REALLY only acting it, since he is not what everyone thinks he is?

I went to the Star Trek Experience a few years before they changed it or took it down or whatevs.
It was awesome as hell, Quarks Bar was the best, he kept telling my mom to make many transactions and offered her the chance to try a Warp Core Breach they would even mix it at the table.
there were so many interesting character relationships in DS9
garak-bashir, bashir-o'brien, odo-quark, quark-rom, kira-odo, jake siske-nog, sisko-dax..

That's the big advantage of not having your show set aboard a travelling spaceship. It forces you to develop your characters within a confined space, instead of having the option to keep the status quo and throw a new alien/danger/puzzle at them every week.
