Whenever someone fights a jedi in any star-wars thing I'm hoping the jedi gets their ass kicked. Inventive, quick-thinking and pragmatic people over dumb space wizards any day of the week imo.

I hope the empire comes back competent and burns down the jedi temple again.

I've got to admit that I didn't watch Enterprise at all. I just know that one you mentioned because it was in the Borg dvd pack that I got because it had all of the good Borg episodes too.

I could never get into DS9 or Enterprise.
Should I try to remedy this?

    DS9? A million times yes.

Enterprise? Eh, it's touch and go. It's not bad, really but it's not overly good either.

DS9 is the best of the series, despite it dragging on the first few seasons. The last few years with the Dominion Wars are some of the best written tv shows ever. I highly suggest you watch it from season 1, but keep it in the back of your head that it takes a year or two to flesh out characters and story lines, and sweet jebus did they do a good job of making everything work out well.

Enterprise isn't as awful as people make it out to be. I honestly think if they hadn't had such teeth-clenchingly saccharine opening credits it would've been more successful.

Funny thing, enterprise started to get really interesting at the end, and the latter episodes (minus the last one with troy and riker, which was abysmal as fuck) were pretty cool. I particularly liked.. this one, and this one, IIRC, though I don't remember WHY I liked the wild west one...
And I'm glad the new Star Trek movie was good, I was really going to stop watching anything related to Star Trek after how much Nemesis sucked ass, which is pretty sad considering I loved it since I was a little kid

Enterprise did indeed get much, much better when the different producer took over and ended that whole stupid Xindi temporal cold war thing.

I still maintain the best teaser (ie - the part before the theme song and credits) is
the episode where the Xindi make it to Earth and destroy it.

My stomach literally sunk and my jaw just dropped.

Why oh why did they have such awful Irish stereotypes on the show? The Irish colonists on Next Gen who set fire to the Enterprise trying to cook their dinner was bad enough, but then years later Voyager decides to have an entire episode set in the holodeck in a godawful Irish village. I cringed so much I got muscle spasms.

Come on, O'Brien was a great character.

Actually yes. O'Brien was fantastic. His whole friendship with Bashir became so enjoyable to watch over the years.

Indeed. DS9 was so. so. good in that regard. As it was said, there were so many good support characters, most shows didn't even have a main cast that interesting.
On a related note, was I the only one who found it funny that bashir was acted pretty badly at the beginning, and later you find out he's actually (major spoiler)
REALLY only acting it, since he is not what everyone thinks he is?

his and dukats dialog is always fantastic

    You're thinking Garak.

    No he's not. It's a fake!

    It's been a long road,
To get from there to here.
    It's been a long time,
but my time is finally here.

And I can feel a change
    in the wind right now.
    Nothing's in my way.
    And they're not gonna
    hold me down no more.
No they're not gonna hold me down.

'CAUSE I'VE GOT FAITH, OF THE HEART.
    I'm going where my heart
    will take me.
    I've got faith to believe.
    I can do anything.
I've got strength of the soul.
AND NO ONE'S GONNA BEND OR BREAK MEEE!
    I can reach any star.
    I've got faith,
    I've got faith,
    Faith of the heart.

    It's been a long night,
    Trying to find my way.
    Been thru the darkness,
Now I finally have my day.

And I will see my dream
    come alive at last.
    I will touch the sky.
    And they're not gonna hold
    me down no more.
    No they're not gonna change
    my mind.

'Cause I've got faith of the heart.
    I'm going where my heart
    will take me.
    I've got faith to believe.

And no one's going to bend
    or break me.
    I can reach any star.
    I've got faith,
    Faith of the heart.

I know the wind's so cold,
    I've seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel,
    Are only winds of change.
    I've been thru the fire,
And I've been thru the rain,
    But I'll be fine.

'Cause I've got faith of the heart.
    I'm going where my heart
    will take me.
    I've got faith to believe.
    I can do anything.
I've got strength of the soul.
And no one's going to bend
    or break me.
    I can reach any star.
    'Cause I've got faith,
    'Cause I've got faith,
    Faith of the heart...

    Faith of the heart.
