Guys, pick up The Kentucky Fried Movie if you haven't seen it. It's a bunch of short skits, with one long one, but between Fistful of Yen and Catholic High School Girls in Trouble you have more than enough to make it worth your time.

History of the World: Part 1 is a pretty terrible movie.

Outside of the odd scene during the Roman period there wasn't much to laugh at.

Kids in the Hall works well to back up my theory that the quality of a sketch comedy show is inversely proportional to the number of recurring characters.

We need some more Police Squad.

Like the police scientist or whatever he was.

"Ted Olson: [attempting to hold a cat underwater] So you see Katie, fish have gills to extract oxygen from water. But air breathing species have lungs which are equipped only to accept oxygen in it's natural state. And that's why most mammals must live on land.
    Katie: Wow, that's neat."

"Ted Olson: Run along, Jenny, and next week I'll show you why women can't play professional football. "

Always teaching the terrible to little kids...awful, but awesome.

Yes, but what about SNL back in the day? They had quite a few recurring characters and it was pretty damn excellent.

    But what about Mr. Show?

They were pretty much set against using recurring characters as they felt it as a crutch for writing comedy.

Although there were the odd exceptions throughout the series.

My point is that i just realised I read Framling's original post wrong making my argument pointless.

The Naked Gun flicks totally lasted through the new millenium.

Other humor made around the late 80s/90s tends not to age well. News Radio, for instance - I loved it when I was younger, but the only redeemable character is Phil Hartman's.

are you being sarcastic? because for me its the exact opposite.
