My dad has this on his chest, over his heart, and actually got it just a week before I got mine [IMG]And currently he, his ex-CIA friend, and their ex-KGB buddy are looking into getting some matching one to all commemorate their Cold War
edit: That is not only bigger than I expected it to be, it is also a pretty crappy version of the image, but you get what I'm saying here[/img]
"YOU CAN'T HUG YOUR KIDS WITH NUCLEAR ARMS" in the Tupac belly-tat format
I live in Columbia, though I actually had mine done at a place in Asheville, NC because I lived about an hour away at the time
But the one my girlfriend just went to was Devine Street Tattoos and judging from hers and some of their portfolio I've seen they look like a really great place
I too live in Columbia. I figured I could never get a tattoo because my tastes change so frequently and I'm OCD about them, but I've decided to get my son's name on the back of my arm. It'll send the message, "Son, I love you, but only enough so that I have to strain to see it."
Here's a fun thought, what if your dad had your name on him? Would it be weird?
It would be a little weird to me, but that's just because it's not the sort of gesture I'd expect from my dad
Your son might be totally jazzed about it
My dad talked a while ago about getting our family crest tattooed on his arm, with my name, my sister's, and my brother's (who mine is in memory of) on each side of the shield. He wound up not getting it, but who knows; he might change his mind. My ex-stepmom was rabidly anti-tattoo
Follow up question: now, I am skinny. In the coming year, I intend to bulk up quite a bit. Would it be wise to wait or would the tattoo be unaffected?
when you say the back of your arm, where exactly do you mean?
Tricep? forearm? wrist? elbow?
skin will stretch and warp the image, but some areas will bulk significantly more than others and the parts of the skin in between muscle groups will barely stretch at all.
there's a tattoo i've been thinking about getting for a long time, but i think i've decided that i don't like the aesthetics of such a long word tattoo (it's one sentence, but it's kind of a long compound sentence)
I had been thinking about getting that tatooed on me for some time. In a drunken fury, I bit the bullet and had it done. I forgot that I wanted quotes and and ellipses as well. I'll get it finished when I can afford the minimum fee.
Left Arm:
Filipino sun and stars (1/2 Filipino). In the center, the first initial of my parents, then myself and my sister.
Tree with everyone in my family with the name louis (first or middle), from myself all the way to my great-great grandfather.
It reads: *EL*RL*LH*LA*AL*. Spaces in tree left blank in the event I have sons and pass along the name Louis to them.
Right Arm:
German Iron Cross (1/4 German) and w/ 2 grass leaves for my 2 tours in Iraq. Space in the Cross left blank so I can put in the date I actually get out of the Army.
French Republic Emblem (1/4 French).
I have plans to get one more, but whether it happens is another story. The goal is to have everyone in the family, including my mother, get the tattoo. It'd be a tattoo taking all the coat of arms from the entire family(incl. aunts & uncles) and merging them together. The trouble is actually finding what the other crests are, and I think my mother specifically made it this difficult so she wouldn't get one.
The worst tattoo I've ever seen in real life would have to be my roommate's, who has Captain America tattoo'd on his chest and has plans to add Thor and Iron Man on opposite sides of the Captain.
Edit: I guess I should explain. He got it when he was super fit, and after he let himself go, Captain America looks like a saggy retiree.

If you drastically change your weight, yes it will be affected.
