I'd imagine it was a case of "Since you're the boss of a place my son spends a lot of time on this internet thingy, you can cancel this other internet doohicky where he wastes time. Also fix my email."
In a way, this is why the "Who got banned and why" thread was so hilarious before it sort of stopped being updated.
One of my longtime favorites was a ban by Orikae saying "There is a time and a place to post pictures of women launching produce out of their bodily cavities like mortars with breasts...oh wait, there isn't."
At the risk of going off-topic, I got a big kick out of that thread too. Plus it was reasonably informative.
Anyway, given the fact that the board is technically unstable enough as it is (not to mention search is still disabled, and the admins are working plenty hard to keep things going already), I'm guessing we probably won't get more name changes until the board gets switched to a new system.

Why the crap did I ever make my original name "cloudeagle?"

I'm hoping this isn't the case because the woman sounded utterly stupid. Usually stupid people have the most ridiculous reasoning.
Forgive my presumption, and I would be shocked if this had not already been mentioned, but why not charge for a name change like Xbox does? Perhaps during the Child's Play drive, give $20, get a name change. That'd get rid of the people who just want to change their name from "AwesomeMcCool" to "AwesomeMcCoolGuy" and raise money for kids.
Although if a name change buggers the database, that'd still cause problems...

Bloody hell, just 3 pages ago. I feel silly, but slightly better in that he didn't mention Child's play as a recipient of the payment. Still mainly silly though.

one of the auction items in this year's Solid Saints auction for Child's Play was a name change
I stand by the currrent changed name with all my heart, but the loss of Samoan Hug Machine will stay with me forever. To get back on topic: I'm perfectly okay with my name. Carry on.

I thought I'd made her reasoning sufficiently stupid.

...a money hat.
edit: Missed the charity part. But I'll leave it here since I can't delete it, and some people do suggest throwing money at the problem.

Wait, did you pay the $89 for the name change, or the $3k?
Either way, high five dude.
The superior name. A shame the bandwagon couldn't see past it's own hubris.
