The whole premise of Thor is fish out of water. What exactly were you expecting?
That's a good point, but I'm still dreading it. It's almost always really obvious and not terribly funny.
Lol, ya, there will be allot of fish out of the water moments in Thor and it will probably continue right into the Avengers. Plus, then you'll have Captain America as a fish out of water to.
I'm looking forward to it, I found the tazer and the coffee mug scene pretty damn funny.

Man, thinking about the tazer scene makes me want to watch the trailer again
"You dare threaten me, Thor, with so puny a weap..bzzt"
Physical comedy worked out pretty well in Iron Man, so I'm glad to see it here, also.
I like Young Justice because of the cameos, but the plots and relationships are kind of boring me.
The next episode is called Downtime, though, which suggests the cast will hang out and get to know each other.
Also, maybe things will get more interesting once the overarching villains of the series officially raise the stakes.
Gotta agree. The main thing drawing me back each week is animation quality, which is supurb. The story hasn't really gripped me that much, although I am enjoying Robins obsessions with prefixes.
Yeah, I wish the story was moving faster, but I honestly do appreciate that if they're not giving us a massive, overarching plot with crazy additions each week, they're at least doing something a little different for a superhero show and giving us some pretty great procedural-style cases each week, occasionally with some great villains and guests in the mix (Klarion and Fate were incredible, Bane was also awesome).
Bummer that the show's apparently taking a break this week. I think CN's big sports award show is happening this friday.
Seriously, the last few years cartoon network has essentially dropped the cartoon part of their title. I wish Williams Street hadn't taken off for adult swim, because I think we lost a lot of taste for edgy, mature toons in the wake.
From The Matrix's Agent Smith to "Tick" Belrose of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, he's been a class act. Can't wait to see him act the fuck outta Herr Schmidt.
People who like Rick Remender and also like video games should buy Bulletstorm. He did a surprisingly good job on the script and characters for the game - I definitely get a Fear Agent vibe from parts of it.
Preview of Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, the animated GL movie coming out before the live action movie this summer. I thought it was supposed to be a prequel to the movie, but they are using the same animation style as the Green Lantern: First Flight movie. They seem to be treating it like a sequel, yet Sinestro went bad at the end of First Flight and here he still looks like he's a Corps member so I don't know what is going on.

What gets me is that Sinestro is still a GL but one of the flashback stories seems to be about the Yellow Lantern Corps.

I remember reading that the Emerald Knights movie was going to be similar to the Gotham Knight video where it is separate stories focusing on different lanterns at different times.
I can't tell if they're actually doing a singular art style this time and not using an anime studio with different artists, but if they are, that consistency will bring it above all the other shorts DTVs, which have always been really so-so.
I also hope the interlocked narrative is stronger than it was on Gotham Knights, which was good but tied for my least favorite of the DC DTVs with Superman: Doomsday.
Really? Gotham Knight is by far my favorite dtDVD that DC's done. I was actually a little disappointed at the trailer when I saw it was all in the same style. But then you can't really expect them to contract six different animation studios every time.
I like visual variation when you're going to do a straight up anthology style.
I never really care about anthologies enough to rewatch them. Beyond that, the quality is almost always inconsistent, and without a strong central narrative there's no reason to go back to some of them at all.
A central narrative would be aces.
Everyone is guessing this is a sequel to First Flight, which would be neat if it were true. However, if it is true, I'm kind of sad that Garber and Meloni aren't back. Don't get me wrong, Nathan Fillion is not only the man, he is perfect for Hal Jordan in any format. I just like my continuity.
The top related news link to that JLA porn is Preacher is back in the works ( for like the umpteenth time, but I can still hope).
I wish they'd stop teasing me with preacher movies heh.
I honestly wish they wouldn't even go there with Preacher. I mean, if freaking HBO took a look at the subject material and went "you know what? That shit's crazy, even for us", there is no way a film is going to be able to do it justice.
So, I stayed up late last night to watch All Star Superman.
It was missing a lot, both in content and tone. Also, Steve Blum played 4 characters, only shifted his voice at all for one (Atlas), and actually played two characters at once in the opening scene (although I think it was the twin set of clones).
And while I'm talking about the voices, James Denton did a pretty poor job. He sounded so old and unenthusiastic the whole time. I wasn't convinced that Anthony LaPaglia would do a good job from the trailer, but he actually did knock it out of the park. I was worried his delivery would be too dark and serious for that material, but seeing it all at once, it was actually so dark and serious that it reached a level of parody, and actually worked fantastically. Unfortunately, he also sounds really similar to Ed Asner, so I do kind of wish a change had been made for Perry. Christina Hendricks did a wonderful job as well.
As for the content, they really did tone the Silver Age wonder and the fun of it down a lot. They made all the scenes where Clark pops away to save people really epic and dramatic when they're presented so simply in the book.
The missing chapters didn't hurt the film as much as I thought they would. At the same time, the Kryptonian astronauts were my least favorite single issue of the book, and they dragged the film down as well. Beyond that, the whole segment was so quick that it had little impact. I wish Superman could've bumped into Zibarro in space instead, or gone back in time to see Pa Kent.
The Solaris battle was really strange because there's no foreshadowing or anything about Solaris in the entire movie at all, until he just pops out. It was jarring to me not having read the book in awhile, and I imagine it's even more jarring to someone who hasn't read it. Beyond that, the actual Solaris fight was a bit crazy to try and give the movie more action. The Mercy line bothered me because it's not something Superman would ever say or do at all, but I was a little bit better with it after they made so much effort to show that Solaris is just a computer/robot and nothing else (where his sentience clearly made him more in the comic).
I guess I'd give it a B? Maybe? Probably my third favorite after Red Hood and Crisis.
why is it that DC animated features are so far and away superior to Marvel's efforts? I watched both avengers movies the other day and they're god awful, both in story content and animation.
Speaking of Marvel animation, anyone know when the Avengers is supposed to start up again. I need to see more of the Hulk beating the shit out of things that think they're omnipotent.
Hell, I'm mostly a Marvel reader and I feel the same way, I've enjoyed a lot more of DC's animated feature releases than Marvels. Dr Strange was in my opinion one of the better Marvel but a lot of them fall short in comparison to stuff like S&B: Public Enemies and even the short film like Spectre and SHAZAM.

Oh hahaha, I didn't even think about the choice of weapon. :^:

No scenery will be safe from his mandibles
I'm a pretty conservative Republican, and even I will admit that if Fox News tells you not do something, that's a good reason to do it.
Or you could buy Dead Space for some Rick Remender video-game goodness.

Its a SFW trailer, but for a NSFW movie.

It never gets old.
I'm hoping that Marvel's stuff gets better now that they are owned by Disney.
