I can stretch my client window to span both monitors
and it looks awesome
Wouldn't your crosshair get lost in the bezel?
Just tested, and yes it does. But if you have three monitors with your cursor in the middle one, you will get some amazing peripheral vision. It's not a perfect wrap as it skews a lot to the sides, but you can still see more than you would.
I don't inhabit the temple anymore (I'm living in my deku tree now) and my girlfriend isn't playing as much right now because of school.
Okay. As soon as I hit tunnels, I walled up my dig there and back-tracked, so nothing of yours should be disturbed. By the way, that deku tree is AWESOME. I climbed up there yesterday night while showing my wife the neighborhood and I have to say: nice work.

Surely people use some sort of mod for projects that size. I'm trying to build an Orthanc-type tower but I need to get ride of this hill first, and it's taking forever. And TNT is hard to come by because creepers aren't that common.

We (Me and other SE++ Minecrafters) dug out a hole that was 110x110x35, which probably isn't very different from that hole. If he had infinite diamond picks, a single person could do that in about 4 weeks of being unemployed. The obsidian, while difficult to get, wouldn't be impossible, but again, an infinite number of diamond picks are about the only viable way of getting that much unless he used some method like pouring the lava then using water to avoid having to break it all with picks under the earth.
I'd say that project, if properly planned, a single person could do it in between one and two months. Without diamond picks, more like 3 months.
I'm coming for you minecraft, just hold on a little bit longer

For anyone who's finding that MC.net is down a lot, try using the old launcher. I saved mine when the new one came out, if anyone wants it. Don't get it from out there on the internets, someone's been spreading one around that steals passwords.
He probably cheated obsidian in and made the hole with a map editing program.
Judging from the circular pit I'm inclined to agree. I remember making a ton of things like this using a server block editor. After a while I just used to to make perfect circles as guides.

nope. The guy didnt do it alone, and they dug it out. The obsidian was made using moulds. They have a pretty crazy server.
a crazy server which proves we just dont think big enough (they dont have creepers exploding though, so...)
apparently, they do the whole make a grid and give people plots. They also fill the plots with things like stone or wood, and people use that to build from and so the buildings have some cohesion. it sounds like heaven to me but im sure some of you would be all WTF NOOOO
Cable connection, according to their literature (read: lies) it should triple my download speed, and I'm no longer stuck using a wireless connection, so I won't get constantly dropped any longer.
And I can connect my playstation to it. And my DS.

More ways for you to see that creeper coming.

i had been lazily playing in the browser instead of downloading the client on this new computer for a while
and then minecraft.net goes down

What is that made out of? And is that in our server?
