Kristin from Child's Play chiming in here, to announce in an extremely official capacity to say that the Cookie Brigade ROCKS!
Jamie & I had a chat with VThornheart, and we all agreed that this year, we'd really love the opportunity to meet as many of you as possible to say thank you personally. It amazes me that you all essentially make your PAX experiences all about distributing cookies for charity. You kids are crazy.... in that lovable, extremely appreciated way.
The Meet-Up:
PAX Sunday, Aug. 28th - 4pm
4th Floor South Lobby, the stair above the PAX show office (where that goofy water feature and lots of plants are)
If you can, we'd love any and all bakers, distributors and other Cookie Brigadiers to meet us there, say hello, pose for some pictures and bask in our extreme gratitude!
I'll have a small selection of sugar cookies for distribution. I know it's not the massive amounts other people have made, but I figure every little bit counts!
So... I should leave the Lemon Portal Cakebombs at home, VT? Because my gamers will eat them. I mean... If we have to many sweets. #hahahahakidding
Super awesome about the Child's Play Meet-Up as well. Looking forward to that. I'm from Pittsburgh, and the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a really busy hospital. Children's has some of the most advanced treatment options out there for cancer and is the foremost hospital for pediatric transplantation. This means that we have a lot of long term peds patients. I know those kids really appreciate the chance to see at little normalcy, and, for a kid, nothing is more normal then play.
Still PAXing strong. [E] for lyfe. ELand forever.

I'm excited to meet as many of you as possible! Hopefully most of you can make it.
In particular, check out the sticky (yellow) posts at the top. There's a lot of information that will be very useful to you so that you know where to go and what to do! Please contact me if you have any questions!
Great News! I got my employer to donate $500 to Child's Play as a sort of Corporate Match for the massive amount of cookies that I'm baking. VT, canI count that toward my $$ achievement?
Oh... that's pretty freaking awesome! I honestly never imagined that a company would do that... I've tried with a couple of my employers over the years to get them to contribute to Child's Play in one way or another, but it never worked out. Well done!!
I guess it would count...? Yeah, it makes sense: your acts as a Brigadier is getting that money to Child's Play, so I think that counts! Just remind me when the dust settles and I start doing the achievement tallying, in case I forget. PAX tends to be a cookie-smothering fog that clouds my memory of events leading up to it.
Friend of sfenix who signed up to help distribute if necessary. (I might be crashing at sfenix's place, if she is who I think she is, otherwise, I'm going to be rather embarrassed shortly)

You have to be a girl, with the magical gift of guilt.

And DJ!!!!! Man, I was beginning to wonder if you were going to show up! I'm really glad you're coming, it wouldn't be the same with you! I'll get your account set up right away! Woot!
Alright... 500 Rice Krispies treats cooled, cut, and wrapped. Working tonight on mini cupcakes for Cultural Geek Girl to give out, so they will be as fresh as possible since I fly out in the morning. Excited to drop stuff off on Friday morning and keep some for myself for distributing!
Phew, awesome RogueBunny! That's fantastic! I always forget about rice krispies... they're popular when we get them, but we often don't get many (or any). I get the feeling that they'll be popular!
oops, i didn't sign up, someone just today (day before pax) about the pax prime group, i was just in baking group. And I have the cookies here. AAAnd my phone is dead, i'm gonna borrow someone's phone and call ya thorn.
I am done! Two Amazon boxes of bagged and labeled cookies are ready to come in tomorrow morning. Picking up a friend at the buttcrack of dawn to head in with us and she's got a few dozen to bring in too.

I am still hosting that dinner party on Saturday, August 27th at 5pm.
This is in Belltown and within walking distance from PAX. PM me for details. Not sure if I am allowed to post addresses/phone numbers [of the building/phone number for our room]. >.>
Everyone is welcome to come. This is very low key and there will be kids present.

I'm home and monitoring Twitter for #CookieBrigade so be sure to check there periodically for hungry lines! You can also follow my cookie brigade Twitter list for communications http://twitter.com/#!/aerynkelly/cookie-brigade
Anyone who still needs to drop off that hasn't yet: be sure to check the CB website for the meeting info and/or the "Supply Location". You can go to either of those to drop off!
Any bakers who've changed their mind about distributing and want to distribute, feel free to also come over whenever you can and we can get you set up to go as a distributor!
Umm... we're up to $2080 and change, and I've counted a bit more than 1/3 of it. It's taking so long... I think I need to sleep and resume again in the morning, otherwise I'm going to wake up face down on the money counter.
I want to give a shoutout to the person who made the florentines (http://bigboldbeautifulfood.blogspot.com/2009/12/cookie-swap-ruths-florentine-cookies.html). OMG what a labor of love (they're not a quick cookie to make)! They're thin and just chewy enough not to crumble in the distribution bags. Attendees who know what they are, are all OVER them if I mention I have some. Thanks!!
Yes, it's true! I never believed that a cookie that thin could be so durable at the same time! It was truly amazing to see!
Also, I only have three bags left uncounted, but now I have to get ready to bring this stuff down for the morning meeting... but just as an update, we're at $3916.15 from Friday with three bags still left uncounted. My current estimate would be that we have at least $4500 so far... so we're on pace to break $10,000 in donations for Child's Play thanks to all of you awesome people out there who are donating!!! Thank you so much for helping out Child's Play! Now let's see what we can do today!
Guys, congratulations on an incredible PAX. You did an amazing job, and I wish I could have helped out more than I did, but hey, at least I got to escort y'all through BYOC.
Since it looks like the number wasn't announced in the thread yet, I'll let someone official do that, but it's mind blowing what you guys accomplished. A serious congratulations to all of you.

ATTENTION ALL BRIGADIERS:
If you haven't done so already... and you're planning on Brigadiering, go to the website NOW and register for the PAX Prime 2011 event:

We want as accurate of a count as possible of how many bakers and distributors we're expecting to have! Thank you so much!

Oy, we're going to need an army of distributors!
Believe me though, this is a very good problem to have. The bad problems are when we run out of cookies, like we did at PAX East 2010.
