With regards to the SUPER SECRET CHARACTER SELECTION SCREEN, I think an awesome mode would be "secret fighter mode." You'd pick your name, and then the character selection screen would be blank. You'd scroll through all the characters with the analog stick, and the speaker on your Wiimote would softly say which character you were selecting while you held it up to your ear like a phone, making other people unable to see who you were picking.
Won't work with a GC controller, of course, but I think it'd be pretty neat.

Too bad it wouldn't work with the GCN controller and the Classic controller, because that idea is fucking SWEET.

It could work with the Classic, since the Classic needs to be plugged into a wiimote to work.

Good point. Well, what if you could assign a secret "default character" to your name?
Holy crap. Four controller types, AND customizable button configurations... wow. Options on top of options. Makes me think the actual game will have tons and tons and tons of stuff if they're going this far.
Wouldn't it be great if customized costumes for each character could be defaulted to your name/profile as well? I want to be able to unlock miscellaneous hats/sunglasses/other crap to put on characters like in other fighting games, and then tie what characters will be wearing those items to your personal profile.
...mostly I want Pikachu to be wearing aviator goggles by default as soon as I pick my name.

ZZS would only have come up as resonable if Zero Mission had been released early last year.
ZZS? Zero Zoot Samus?
I suddenly want to see Samus in a Zoot Suit.
Hah! This is why people shouldn't post late at night. Yes, Zero Zoot Samus CONFIRMED for Brawl.

Control schemes will not be banned at tournaments. There were some people who were crazy enough to modify their GameCube controllers so that the L button is easier to hit quickly in order to make consistant power-shielding possible, and even that wasn't banned in tournaments.
Controllers that are modified to simple wave dashing are banned from tournies (alternate L and R while holding a direction and your character wave dashes on command)

There's no way in hell tournies will ban control schemes. Rather, if one control scheme is significantly better, all high-level players will use it. But I don't think there will be anything like that; people will use what they're most comfortable with. For the Gamecube controller, I would probably change grab to X instead of Z, but that's about it.
I'm going to be mad now if this just lets us switch functions to different buttons but DOESN'T let us remove analog-stick jumping. It would be simplistic to just include a little question that says "Do you want to enable analog-stick jumping" with a tiny little yes and a big fucking NO.

Better yet, just don't enable it in the game at all and never say anything about it ever again.
I want to jump I'll just use the analog stick oh no the buttons are faster and more precise and don't prevent me from holding the stick in a certain direction
Basically, analog stick jumping gets in the way sometimes, and is worthless even when it doesn't. If the degree to which you were holding it up mattered one could make a case that it's needed, but it doesn't. You only have two jump heights: normal and short hop. And how high you jump depends solely on how long the button is held down (or stick is held up, although it's incredibly difficult to short hop using analog stick jumping). So analog stick jumping is basically just mapping a button's function to the analog stick being pointed a certain way, which is annoying and dumb.
It would be like "if you hold down all the way it activates the shield" - fucking annoying if you just want to use a down-attack because you have to make sure you don't push the stick too far down or you'll shield, and less useful than just hitting L or R.
I think the only argument that could be made for keeping it in is a lot of people being used to it. But there should definitely be an option to turn it off.

All I want them to do is stop treating you being in mid-hit the same as being in mid-air.
Getting attacked from both sides would be the most practical situation to use Link's spin-slash, but it's fucking useless when it treats it as an aerial and launches him upward.

You can't play jiggs the way I do without using the analog stick to jump.

As a Jigglypuff player myself, I cannot possibly fathom using the analog stick to jump. I guess it might work as long as you C-stick all of your aerials.

Personalized configurations saved to the Wii-mote? Yes please.
I honestly don't know what the trick to it is. I dont recall ever having a problem with accidentally turning around. Maybe you just need to hit A before the Puff finishes turning around so it triggers the bair?

Nonono, it would be the zoot suit from which all other zoot suits spring forth. The ur-zoot suit.
Edit: Someone with photoshop skills, your mission is clear.
If that's what I think it is, it's a song by Weird Al. But what does that have to do with Brawl?

Is the analog stick the trick to doing backwards jumping backwards airs without turning around in the air?
I tried that shit for the first time a little while ago and just couldn't do it, and I'm hardly what one could call unskilled.
I can do that no problem jumping with Y, so I doubt thats the reason.
So um, what is the fucking trick to it? I just cannot do it at all. I always turn around every fucking time I jump.
And I'm speaking only of Jigglypuff here (tho I guess kirby prolly turns around like that too, but he's not really an air character so I don't care).
http://www.audioentropy.com/
Yeah, but you need to actually be moving backwards at the beginning of the kick, too.
Anyone wanna take a shot as to what the next update category will be? I'm hoping for a Stage but I think it will be a How To Play.
