This was my favourite game for a long time. I'm pretty sure few people played it.
It was the first video game I got into trouble over because I stayed-up until like 2:00 in the morning playing it and my parents caught me.
The UI and controls really need to be tightened-up and the AI player is given a retarded tech advantage over you that kind of cripples a bit of the fun, but I'd love a modern remake of Conflict.
Anachronox. Nobody ever talks about it nowadays. It was a great turn based RPG made in the quake 2 engine. The lead developer bought the rights to the IP a while ago, and is really eager to do a sequel. I sincerely hope that they do end up making the sequel one day. The first one ended on a cliffhanger.
The cutscenes and some of the gameplay were turned into an 11 part machinima that was quite well recieved back in the day..
A fun strategy game where you could spawn helicopters and tanks and either have them be ai controlled or take command of them yourself.
So glad someone posted this, as I loved Urban Assault. Unfortunately, I think it was also way ahead of its time (in a good way!). Maybe someone will come along and remake it
The best thing in Battlestations was playing as as the U.S. and temporarily controlling Dive Bombers, dropping their payload onto enemy ships, then swapping to the nearest Battleship to rain dakkadakka upon them. You could control every plane, battleship, tiny PT boat or submarine.
And then you play as Japan and control Kamikaze fighters
I was 7 when this came out. I remember being not very good at it, but I was fascinated. It probably wasn't a very good game, but oh man, it was a SPACE COLONY, and it led me to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, which everyone knows is fantastic.
I remember that. I still have it.
The panic button was the best.
I remember that game being so hard! I just never understood what I needed to do. "Any mistakes at this point will doom you and your colonists to certain death. Have a nice day."
It was back in the generation of games when the manual (and it was fairly thick) was useful.
But it wasn't until years and years later when I reinstalled it on a whim that I realized how much sarcasm and dry humor they injected into that game. The quote you brought up just reminded me of it.
It's just such a great little game, and it's region free so you can play it on a US 360.
ESPGaluda deserves a strong recommendation as well. The sequel is on iOS and Android.
Omega Booster and Iron Soldier? God, I loved those. Mechas in the PS1 were always welcomed.
Legend of Legaia. Interesting gimmick; fights were carried out through sub-menus that let you choose attacks a-la fighting game; if you happened to make a combo it would be saved in a fast use menu. You could catch summons, there were many of them. Plus, interesting storyline! All in all, a solid game.
Digimon World. This game is my PS1 favourite of all time. I just loved the way it handled everything. Yeah, it was ridden with bugs, game breaking bugs, but I still loved it nonetheless. Waaaaay better than all the other Digimon games.

All this is 100% truth.
I especially had a blast with Split/Second. So much fun.

So much nostalgia. The PS1 was my first system ever, though I got to play the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo too.
