i'm all ok i have these longbowmen, i'll mow down incoming infantry and when they get in melee range i'll switch to further targets. also i'll charge in half my swordsmen to each incoming line, and as my troops tire i'll commit the other half from the side

Well, my aunt is now officially about to die. My sister thinks it would probably be bad to let her kids see her in the terrible state she's in but I don't know, they have the right to say goodbyw at least, don't they?
It depends. It depends on a lot.
How old are the kids? How is she now - is she still mostly herself? Is she conscious?
I wasn't much more than ten when I saw one of my granddads not long before he died, and to be honest it didn't really help me much. He wasn't really there anyway, and it was mostly just sitting there, being sort of confused about what was going on my parents and the other grownup's heads, and sort of wishing I could be alone to sort my thoughts about it out.
She's conscious, just with a bunch of tubes sticking out of her. She has cancer, so she won't lose her faculties.
Her kids, one is 5 and the other is 9 or so. So I don't know. I mean, they love their mom.

I guess I would not make a good general
i guess i'm not sure how much i should pay attention to morale/freshness
every time my dudes got super tired i'd try to back them up and give them a break while committing other troops, plus move my general near them
but i feel like the time it took them to strategically retreat just had the french dicks hacking at my back
meh
hit-and-run only really works for cavalry
when infantry is engaged they should be engaged somewhere they're going to win
also, the primary use for archers is damaging enemies' morale, so that when you charge, you can cause a general rout

When you bring in fresh troops, have them move in from the side to attempt a flanking maneuver. If the enemy disengages from your tired troops (and it does matter), you can retreat them and bring up a fresh cohort. Never bring guys forward on top of your troops because they get all tangled and muckity muck muck.
It's less one big line, though that feeeeeels good, than a bunch of smaller fists, IMO. That's how I fight anyway.

I went to get a soda, but I forgot I didn't have any cash. I felt kind of bad for using a debit card for a $1 purchase. Then it turned out that someone was hogging up the one phone line they had so the cashier had to kick his coworker off the phone so the debit card transaction could proceed. I felt really bad after that.

Just finished reading The Return of the King (again) yesterday and an into Appendix B.
This readthrough of LOTR was the first time I had used my phone as an e-reader. Other than Google Play Books (such a stupid name) not working with footnotes on Android yet it worked amazingly well.
The huge screen on my Droid 2 was easily big enough for comfortable reading.
also, damn those are good books. Every time there is new stuff to find in there.
