Some people believe that 666, the number of the beast according to some interpretations of Revelation, isn't the right number. You see, apparently in dreams you often see numbers upside down (go with it), so the real number shouldn't be 6-6-6.
It should be 9-9-9.
Coincidence?
well it's not 666 but that's because of translation / transcription errors. It's 616 in the better quality / older written artifacts in greek.
edit: and of course the wikipedia page on the subject is massively, massively more favorable to the traditional reading based on later latin manuscripts.
I swear wikipedia is hopeless about history or religion. Their "neutral" point of view always ends up being a compromise between "scholarship" and "crazy". And meeting crazy halfway ain't no improvement.
also when it comes to history wikipedia is terrible for people pushing their ideologies using old, out of date scholarship. EG: sources to people who really were experts in their time but aren't reliable anymore.

Oh my god,
Everyone's reaction to this stupid joke was disappointing.

It's both. It's spelling the name CAESAR NERO and summing the numerical value of each letter. But the name had two different spellings, one of which summed to 616 and the other summed to 666.

I remember hearing on a podcast once an American guy saying, completely non-ironically, that Porsche should be respectful and rename the Porsche 911
Is this a common thing in the US, or was this guy just a nut
i wouldn't say it's especially common but sentiments like that exist, sure.
to be totally fair though, people who were actually harmed by 9/11 have to hear every year from late august to mid september OH MY GODDDDD DO I REALLY HAVE TO SIT THROUGH FOOTAGE AGAIN, OH MY GOD, JUST LET IT GO MEDIA, IT WAS X YEARS AGO
i will stop feeling bad about old conservatives wringing out 9/11 when young liberals quit stomping on the feelings of millions of americans to be edgy because they're bored with our grief

Herman Cain should have stolen Dominos 555 deal. I woulda voted for that.
Any expansion suggestions? I hear Intrigue is a must.
I also got Battleship Galaxies. Pew Pew ships in space!
Intrigue is pretty universally regarded as the best, and with good reason.
I like most of the expansions; I'm not a huge fan of the "Prizes" in Cornucopia. Prosperity is pretty universally liked, and is the only expansion I haven't played a significant amount of. Seaside and Hinterlands are good, Alchemy and Cornucopia are probably my least-favorites.

the oldest known fragment of Revelations covering this text was discovered a few years back in greek and used 616. As do some previous early greek artifacts.
Given just how much the new testament drifted I think 616 is much more reliable. Hell, of all the documents and fragments of documents of the New Testament in greek there are no two copies of any given text that are identical. Some in really important ways.
Like the last few versus of Mark are tacked on at a later date. The entire story about Jesus and the adulterer in John (with "let he who is without sin cast the first stone") is also an addition.

Boo, can't play it until the weekend.

then, as it was loading, it inexplicably booted me back to the dashboard
i took it as a sign and instead watched a German silent movie
The only sign you should take it as is that the universe hates you.
Firefly is goofy fun.
Wait, wait, forgot I was on the internet, Firefly is literally the word of God handed down to man from on high.
I assume this means the offspring of those rare individuals who fetishize tragic acts of violence and just went at it on that day in 2001.

I thought for sure that people got it on when disasters strike. That that was a well-known thing.
I thought wrong.
It's a little something called character development. Having a son changes people. Nothing unrealistic about that.
I mean, you can already see God mellowing out in the post-reboot universe after the Flood.
Oh my god,
Everyone's reaction to this stupid joke was disappointing.
But yours, Riemann?
Yours was the worst.
The worst.
This is the Britta of responses.
Uh yeah, Simon, we all think that over here.
Probably both: giving people a platform on which to express their insane views is common in the US.
What the fuck, God lasts long enough to have a son? Fucking thanks.

From the scandals, I'd say he's more a $5 footlong kind of guy.
