stores around here, it's in the boy section, and kids stick to their own places. girls sections are always coated in pink and purple and pastels, and not a single normal looking lego set to be found.

Funny factoid for those that don't know: Pink and blue used to be the other way around in terms of baby colours. Pink was seen as more of a light, hazy red which suited boys more and blue was seen as a calming, cool shade that fitted girls best. Then somewhere down the track they got switched.
hey just a head's up everyone: the lord of the rings stuff is fucking cool
they got the rad orc swords that are kind of hooked, the buildings are all designed to have weird cracks and outcroppings, the horses fucking REAR BACK, the armor has all the neat lord of the rings style detailing on it (especially for dudes like theoden), and also there's a lego ballista
the problem with lego theoden is that he comes in the expensive helm's deep set but the nice thing about theoden is that the helms deep set looks baller as fuck
As much as I want a Riders of Rohan pack, I know we'll never see it. Imagine, a dozen riders, individual costume/weapon/accessory combinations. Will never happen. Best we get is a mini-village of Theoden's (forgot name), or maybe a mini pack of armored Theoden and a pair of riders.

I dunno. If they keep making sets, there's a good chance they'll put out battle packs like they do for Star Wars, where it's like a squad of dudes and a vehicle. And since there aren't so many vehicles, it's possible they'd just put like "four riders of rohan!" alongside a set of like, "four uruk-hai!"
My daughter, being an eight year old girl, gets excited whenever she notices the girl lego sets in a store(usually Target, where they are mixed in with the dolls/ponies/girlystuff). She's all like "Oh! Look, pink and purple legos!", until she looks closer and goes all "Oh...right, I forgot. These sets are all small and not cool.". She really wants to like the pretty pink houses, but the sets they aim at girls all seem simplistic and just not cool.
Her favorite legos are pirates and castle, especially the old school forestmen. She also digs the monster hunter stuff she's seen and the dinosaur hunters(or whatever that line is called). The dino ones she likes just because she enjoys new lego animals.
In summation, girls can like cool legos too.
Also, I know people like to get all high and mighty with the fact the plural of lego is lego but fuck you, it's legos.

It's gonna hurt dropping 200+ on the UCS B-wing, but I don't think I really have a choice here. It's gonna look sweet next to my UCS Interceptor.

I'll give toys'r'us some credit here. They have a neutral lego/knex/etc section and they stock the 'girl' sets among all the others.
Every other store I've been to has the lego aisle sandwiched somewhere in the boys section and the girl sets stuffed somewhere in the pink lanes.
We have to kill pink and purple.
