we let the guy that picked up back in because it's a money up front deal and he had been in the league for years. he was on a very short leash but didn't do any douche moves the next year.
The Commish didn't even want to let the dropper back in the league this year, but other new people were being added and we needed the dropper to even out the numbers, I guess.
I don't know what's going to happen with the guys who picked up a player here and there. (Hopefully we get smaller anyway. While I like the 16 person money pool, playing in a 16 team league is tough).

16 person league is fucking ridiculous. I played in a 14 team and it wasn't nearly as fun or competitive as we thought it would be.
I almost feel bad for mark sanchez but then I remember he makes millions of dollars being not particularly good at football
This is not a shot TDOT, I want to preface this with that. It just sets up something that's been bugging me.
I feel bad, honestly bad, knocking someone like Mark Sanchez, because the truth is that he's great at football. He's phenomenal. He's in the .000001 percent of football players that are good enough to get to the NFL and even have middling success. When people are like "blah Sanchez sucks" a part of me wants to be like no look, if you actually played with him you'd be blown away. He's fucking incredible, just not quite the hair better than everyone else that he needs to be to be successful.
When I was in college there was a guy who was in a grad program who used to play QB for William and Mary who picked up as a rookie free agent by the Browns? and got hurt so he went to NFL Europe for a while and ultimately decided football wasn't for him. He played flag football with us in our crap rec league and it was unreal. He was the best athlete I've ever been on a field with and he's unquestionably the best football player I'd ever seen up close and he couldn't crack an NFL roster. Close but no cigar.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that Mark Sanchez doesn't suck, he just isn't quite amazing enough. I feel a little bit bad for the amount of shit he's taking and I hope he uses all of his money to buy some nice drugs and a vacation to make himself feel better.
Mark Sanchez got paid to throw more touchdown passes on a professional football field than you ever will in your life.
No, he doesn't suck, compared to the whole field. He just happens to suck when compared to the maybe 100 people currently being paid to throw touchdowns by NFL teams.

The only way I survived our 14 person league was furiously hitting the waiver wire as soon as a game was over or it turned midnight after every Sunday. Apparently people thought I was abusing the system too much when I picked up DeMarco Murray, Victor Cruz and Maurice Morris last year when they were hitting their stride so they insisted the following year we instill a waiver order. Which is bullshit because 3/4 of my drafted team had been decimated by injury and I needed some way to stay in the hunt (I ended up taking 2nd place) and it's not my fault no one can be bothered to a) watch games b) check their computer c) look at a stat line
Because conceivably, being in a FF league you have a vested interest in football and thus are watching games and notice when people do well and then add them to your roster? Some of us like to win money
So some dude was butthurt about missing the playoffs in Fantasy and dropped his entire roster. The Commish posted about how no one should pick up that guy's former players. Most of us have abided by that request, but some have picked up some dudes.
Suuuuuuuper lame! Isn't there a way (NFL.com league) for the Commish to put those players back on the guy's team, or otherwise prevent people from picking them up? It's shitty that someone who was around to pick up the castoffs right after they were released (and a couple guys who just ignored the request from the Commish) get to benefit while others of us have "played fair" here.
every league interface I've ever seen has commish tools that would let him do that

well yes thanks obviously
but what the hell use or fun would player analysis be compared to the whole field?
because DVOAJ (defense-adjusted value over average joe) for every qb would be essentially 100% and then it'd be like that episode of malcolm in the middle where the grades for the gifted class were calculated to like 50 decimal points
can't we just assume we are in an environment where we all know football to some degree and that when someone says "mark sanchez sucks" they clearly mean "mark sanchez sucks relative to other qbs who are currently playing and who have played in the past"? because qualifying everything is ridiculous
Thanks guys--I've let the Commish know that he should be looking around at his tools to see about locking up those players and whatnot.
This 16 team league has been interesting, that's for sure. Last year we played with 14, and I thought that was tight for talent.
While I've been hosed by the Waiver rules all season (started off and have held #1 from the start, except for maybe week 2 or 3 where I dropped to #2), I think they're a good idea.

Goodell floating a unique idea to change the kickoff (link).
According to TIME, Goodell recently discussed with Rick McKay, Falcons president and head of the NFL’s competition committee, a radical rule change proposed by Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano. Instead of a kickoff, the team that scored would then take the ball on its own 30-yard line in, essentially, a 4th-and-15 situation. In other words, they could attempt to keep their offense on the field and try to pick up 15 yards, at the risk of turning the ball over on downs; or they could punt.
My first inclination is to decry "How f'ing dumb" but maybe I could be convinced otherwise that the average team would kick anyway. Except in the case that you're playing the Chargers and 15 yards is like chump change.

I don't like this.
Back when the Pats had Moss, I could see their offense never leaving the field.
It feels like this change would create short fields too often. Maybe I'm wrong on that.

why should i have to be constantly on the ready to hop on my computer and pick someone up?

That's why the Butt Fumble occurred. It's karma taking him down a notch or two to make up for that.

it seems like every game has at least one injury or bad collision because of them
and I assume they will keep the first kickoff of each half for logical and symbolic reasons
