1 – Know No Fear – 1 shield – Space Marines: The next 2 times during this battle when a friendly Space Marine unit would be eliminated due to regular dmg, you may instead place it in an adjacent friendly or neutral area with 2 points of dmg.
Respond with ...
1 – Angels of Death – 2 shields – Space Marines: Eliminate 1 opposing unit regardless of its rank. [5 shields counter]
2 – Heroic Combat – 1 shield - +Hero: Inflict 1 point of dmg on an opposing Hero.
So that's 3 points of damage, with the AoD targeting one of your demons (let's say the tzeentchling). Also 1 more point to Mort.
0 – Open Warp Rift – 2 shields – Chaos Cultists: Take a Daemon Horde affiliated with this Cultists from the stockpile and place it in the Cultist's area. The Daemon Horde is considered engaged in the combat. Then draw 2 combat cards. [5 shields counter]
3 – Unquenchable Deviance – 2 shields – Any Unit: Eliminate this unit to eliminate an opposing unit of the same or lower rank.
1 – Lead by Example – 2 shields – Hero: Draw 1 combat card. Then inflict 2 dmg to 1 opposing Hero.
3 – Diversionary Tactics – 1 shield – Attacking Unit: Move your opponent's init marker forward 1 space. [5 shields counter]
1 damage gets through.
Respond with ...
1 – Rain of Death – Chaos Thunderhawk Flight: Resolve a Thunderhawk bombardment. [3 shields counter]
1 – Lead by Example – 2 shields – Hero: Draw 1 combat card. Then inflict 2 dmg to 1 opposing Hero.
2 pts of damage, 2 pts to your guy & 1 card for me.
Let's plink that 1 point on to that demon you saved. Also, I guess you need to pick which guy. I have two heros in this fight.

0 – Esoteric Technology – 2 shields – Adeptus Mechanicus: Your opponent may not play shields to counteract your regular dmg in this iteration (forts still count.)

2 – Diversionary Tactics – 2 shields – Attacking Unit: Move your opponent's init marker forward 1 space. [5 shields counter]
2 – Heroic Combat – 1 shield - +Hero: Inflict 1 point of dmg on an opposing Hero.
3 – Armies Without Number – 3 shields – Imperial Army: The next time 1 of your Imperial Army units is eliminated in this battle, place an undamaged Imperial Army from your stockpile in the area. It is considered to be engaged in the current battle.
They are Jhangtai Khan (the guy not in a fortification) and Rogal Dorn (the guy in a fortification). Unless my spreadsheet is lying to me, Jhangatai has one point of damage while Dorn is uninjured.
2 more should kill the tzeentchling demon. Toss the other 3 onto one of the Khorne demons to kill it too.
You had no cards for iteration 5.
Then for iteration 6...
2 – Diversionary Tactics – 2 shields – Attacking Unit: Move your opponent's init marker forward 1 space. [5 shields counter]
3 – Armies Without Number – 3 shields – Imperial Army: The next time 1 of your Imperial Army units is eliminated in this battle, place an undamaged Imperial Army from your stockpile in the area. It is considered to be engaged in the current battle.
2 – Sacrifices Must Be Made – 1 shield – Hero: Apply a point of dmg to 1 of your engaged units to place a card from your combat card discard pile or your Hero card discard pile into your hand.
2 – Driven Before the Storm – 3 shields – Attacking Unit: 2 opposing units of your choice whose rank is less than this unit's rank ore routed.
1 – Lead by Example – 2 shields – Hero: Draw 1 combat card. Then inflict 2 dmg to 1 opposing Hero.
That should kill the rest of your forces, drop 3 damage onto Mort, and give another +1 init.
I still have cards to play, but I think you have a choice to rout Mort if you want to get out of there? So I'll hold off playing them to let you decide/find out if that's actually true.
It helped that I was able to leverage three areas of attack with my onslought, whereas you only had the one. I think I came into this fight with something like 5 more cards than you; that's a huge advantage.

Mortarion has taken more than 10 damage, and is defeated. Not only that, but the multiple Diversionary tactics played have pushed Chaos far back enough that the Imperium still has two time remaining. Also:
Refresh Phase: All activation markers are removed. Maps updated.
In that case, if I use the Sky Fortress rises to move my army guys into Space Port Damocles, that should give me control of all four space ports and the win, yes?
Ok, you can draw an order for 1 init right? Could I pick up the recycle order Redeploy? If so, I'll do that and Redeploy from the hand into Damocles. Otherwise I'll draw a new order and hope it let's me move. :P
Redeploy (2, start, recycle) - Move any units and heroes from any number of areas to any number of destination areas in this region. Activate each destination area.
Move army guys into Damocles. I think that gives me control of all 4 ports, yes?
Good game @stever777! I had been planning on attacking Spaceport Damocles using an order that let any number of units move from one foritifed area to another, then Sky Fortress to push them out. Good thing I didn't end up trying that; I totally missed I needed a friendly area to move into.
As for our strategy, I think I lucked out in a few battles, especially the last two Onsloughts. Plus, I dunno how the decks of the two forces differ but I seemed to pull a lot more direct damage to your hero cards, or at least I played them more often. What bombardment you got off seemed really effective. That 5 unresitable damage was harsh. I'm lucky you didn't get to use your thunderhawks to better effect.

I'm really bad with Hero names, esp scummy Imperialists.
Who are they and which is more damaged?

Not too hip on the rules, but I didn't see the effect of this get countered. Shouldn't an imperialist die?

Question re: spaceport victory; is that holding all four at any time? Or is that holding all four at a specific spot on the init track?

Caliber gains control of all 4 spaceports, and wins the game. Congrats to the Imperium!
