russia got lucky with the fact that hitler apparently forgot what happened when napoleon thought it would be a good idea to attack russia

i am a descendant of william the conqueror! and no-one's going to understand this!
Why would no one understand this? William the Conqueror, a.k.a. William of Normandy, best-known for kicking the shit out of the English at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. He was sort of French, which is to say he was a viking-descended Norman (a bunch of vikings took over Normandy some years earlier, and made it their home). I'd be shocked if most people here hadn't heard of William the Conqueror. :P
