I'm starting to think that Vent is a bad idea for Paranoia. It's one thing to be sitting around a table with people going crazy, but the internet is another.
I have Characters pregenned so we can get started quickly.
Knowing the rules is treason Citizen, you wouldn't want to disapoint Friend Computer, would you?
I'd be up for a game sometime, prefferably without vent though, my roomate allready thinks I'm weird enough I don't need to shout about commiemutanttraitors into a microphone.
As has been said, knowledge of the rules at red security clearance in treason punishable by execution. That said it's mostly intuitive. The higher your skill number, the better you are at that skill, just get the GM to make a character sheet for you and you'll do fine.
I might be interested in playing, but I'm on the other side of the Atlantic from you yanks, so depending on the time agreed I may or may not be able to turn up.
That's true of any RPG, really. With Paranoia, there's the added requirement of circular logic, and a hint of evilness.
I'm not sure if this is a story I should share with potential players (read: victims) but it kind of sums of Paranoia for me.
We were on a mission to investigate some Commie Mutant Traitorous activity far beneath Alpha Complex. (What mission isn't like that?!)
That's fine, so we go and get our equipment. I ask for a laser pistol. And that's it.
We proceed to the designated elevator, and find our path blocked by IntSec. They're searching the area. So after some quick talking, and lots of bootlicking, we walk down the rest of the hall to the elevator. A bot asks us where we're going. We tell him what sector we need to go to. He doesn't respond. So we ask him to open the doors to the elevator.
GM "The doors open."
Me "Ok, I'll step in."
Considering I was the team leader, and everyone else was new to Paranoia too, they all followed right behind.
GM: "The next thing you know, you wake up in a pile of goo."
Me: "Goo? ... Wait. The elevator wasn't there was it? We just fell like, 50 stories. D'oh!"
So we proceed on, and find some guys to shoot at. Remember how I just got a laser pistol?
So I say "Ok, I'll jump out and blast a few!"
GM: "You jump out and press the firing stud on your laser pistol a few times. Nothing happens. You then get filled with red laser bolts."
Good times. Good times.
Assumptions are the second greatest hazard to a Troubleshooter. The first being Commie Mutant Traitors.
Im definetly interested as everything Ive heard about Paranoia sounds freaking awsome. But I cant even figure out how to connect with JP. I boot it up and then it does nothing.
So I would like to try but my ability to do so could be hindered.

if there's a game going then you'll be able to select 'join' from the connection menu, and it'll have a list of running servers.

I had trouble connecting because I had an older version. Since thats fixed all is well.

That's fine, though. How about one this Saturday and Sunday? Lets start listing time's you're available, and we'll match from there.

Game one is on Saturday October 7th at 1:00 pm, central time.
I'll probably cut off the first group at 4 people, but we might stretch it to 6.
The second game will either be on Sunday the 8th, or the next Saturday, the 14th.
Please let me know if you can make it to the first game.
This weekend is real bad for me, so count me out of the first game as well as if you play on the 8th.
