I really doubt the processor will be a major bottleneck. In games from the past ~10 years or so it's almost always been videocards being the component that primarily determines performance.

The exception being Dwarf Fortress.
Well, yeah
but in that case you also want a really good single-core processor, so it's a bit weird
Wonder if any games get a notable boost from an SSD upgrade
Made my general computer use that much better and I know at least loading times are that much snappier, but I'm curious about other performance boosts

The general programming assumption is that your RAM is faster than your disk so they'll always load assets to your RAM instead of accessing them live from the disk. So pretty much load times is all you'll see.

I lived in a one-room apartment with sink, fridge, local phone and internet, and that was the dorms. You had to buy your own food. I guess this whole "free cafeteria" thing is what you get for tuition that's not 2K/semester. I don't know, not letting collegiates buy what they eat and eat what they want I find is super coddling. Let them enjoy a little bit of adult power: choosing what to eat.
Does anyone know how widespread this is?
My university was about $2500 per semester (back in the 90s) but also had dorms with a cafeteria and meal plan. I never found out the cost of the dorms + meals though, I lived at home while I went to that school.

For those wondering where I study, that I have such a low tuition, well, I study in Quebec, where tuition is set by the state. (Yay socialism!) Of course, they say our universities are underfunded, but I think the onus should be on the people who have money (i.e. taxpayers, companies, i.e. the tax base) to pay for our education because a) It's not like you can squeeze blood from a stone, where "blood"="money and "stone"="people who don't have professional skills yet" and b) Because we're the ones that are going to provide services when they're all too retired to do anything.
So anyway, come study in Quebec! Forward thinking since 1965!*
(Although then the foreigner rate applies to you, and that's something like 10K -15K, depending on the school. But I know a guy from Lebanon who got a dispensation and only had to pay the citizen rate.)
*Or "forward-thinking in 1965". I'm not sure we're still all there...
To bring it back to webcomics, Abby Howard studied in Quebec. So yeah. Montreal. Very inspiring.
Fun Fact: Like everything else an anti-particle requires more energy (a lot, lot more) to create 'by hand' than it releases when reacting with a particle

Another SFP observation: Maybe her superhero career has dulled her to such things, but she doesn't look as surprised as I'd expect someone stumbling upon a dead body to.

Also, my drawing app (Manga Studio) is heavily CPU bound, so I got the beefiest one I could and overclocked it.
Gaming devs are fighting a losing battle here
The industry will rise from the ashes like a motherfucking phoenix.
No, that's CAD, spinnerrette, namir deiter, misfile, and moon over june...which has forever lowered the bar for porn comics.
I'm also a sucker for dystopian and post apocolypse comics and plush and blood is both.
There are already oculus rift protypes with those o things.

Also props to those who called it.
All of then
Well, actually, no, I kinda like the wolverine-powers girl. She was rad.

yes it did and it's great
Blood running down the arms but hasn't managed to drip to the floor yet? Fresh kill, invisible girl could very well still be in the room.

oh god going to talk to him is a tremendously horrible idea

Am I just daft, because on his fb page people are arguing that the strip is pro-police and pro-police armament
you aren't, but they are
