I've been bearded for a good long while now, but when I was shaving, I was using a Merkur 38c with a variety of blades.
Let me tell you. A safety razor with a good blade, you can hear every single hair being individually sliced, and it's fucking amazing.

i used a shavette razor, basically you break a double edged razor in half and set one half in the arm
it works like a straight razor except there's a guard and you don't have to bother with stropping or any of that
