I am having to go to the Mayo fucking Clinic to get to a doctor who will attempt surgery.
Seriously. It's kinda fucked up when you have doctors going "Yeah, you need surgery. Badly." then: "Oh, but I would not be comfortable doing it." followed by: "It's not life threatening, it's only pain."
Hmm. So my neuro's been tapering me down to a lower dose of my brain pressure med to see if that lower dose keeps it controlled. (The side effects have been kicking my ass.) I have a headache that could be pressure, or could be migraine, but my depth perception is back.
I literally missed my exit on the highway this morning because I was so excited about stuff being three-dimensional. Either the nerve has reached a point in its healing and the timing was just coincidence, or I was having vision-related side effects from the acetazolamide. I see my ophthalmologist soonish, so I guess maybe he can say.
Kiiiiinda? I mean, they knew what procedures were going to be ordered, you can't really expect to get anything quick from a 22.
But if I recall, it was my 8th stick and they were just taking my advice, since a 22 is easier to thread the vein on my arms, but I had no idea just how unsuitable it is for receiving contrast.
I generally ask for 20s in my legs at this point, my arms are just wasted out veins.
Next time you suspect you will need a CT give them a heads up and ask them to use a 22 diffusics

It's a 22 that can handle high pressures. I don't know if everyone carries them though
I hate the catch 22 of chronic issues, "I know what I'm talking about" being read as drug seeking or hypochondria or who the fuck knows
Especially since many brain problem medicines are controlled substances, so it's the constant dance of how do I let my provider know I know what I need without sounding like I just want to get high while also being aware of needing to present enough symptoms to justify the medication so for instance I don't take my ADHD meds on therapy days

I am about as far from drug seeking as you can get. Over the course of the three surgeries I've had in the last year I think I've taken like 3 of the narcotic pain pills prescribed to me for the first one. With this latest one I was having a bit of irritation at a weird place and trying to get the surgeon to give his opinion on why and he went into his polite "Well it's much too late in the process for pain management....." and I was just baffled. Like I was worried about infection or something and he hasn't written me a pain script for like a year at this point. Weird.
I don't know what the hell is up with my migraines recently, I've been tracking them since semester started and today is my third in like five weeks or something and now I'm done with this post because my aphasia just went through the roof suddenly
Doctor started me on a new medication for my cluster headaches, I'm hoping it starts working soon because this daily bout of being non-functional is starting to get a little rough. Oh, I also have a fistula that will require surgery because its pushed itself out of my old feeding tube scar when I tore it open last year.
Ok, so apparently I do have a constant hernia but it's too small atm to treat with any surgery thanks to the whole fistulazing aspect of my disease.
And if things are bad enough, I might wake up a cyborg tomorrow. They might need a pump that I'd have to carry around complete with batteries to keep the area cleaned, with wound care 2-3 times a week. If there are complications, they might need to take...a muscle fiber from my leg to use to leverage the healing.
Basically there are a thousand variables going into tomorrow and I am more than a little nervous. And apparently I barely made it up here, and if not for lobbying by my surgeon and GI I wouldn't have, because the business office didn't think I would be part of a sound business strategy...
So now I have been super stressed and I dunno what to do in the meantime before the surgery, the pain is getting so intense that I can't eat or relax comfortably.
@MegaMan001 Thank you so much for visiting me in the hospital. You have no idea how much it means to me. I can't tell you how many times I have been admitted and the only visitors were my parents. You're a saint, Mega.
Edit: and if anyone wants to call and chat, feel free to either PM me your phone number or PM me and say you're interested and I will hand over my cell number.
I'm not much of a phone talker, but if you want to add me on facebook and use messenger to chat I'm going to be working on homework until uhhh whenever my husband comes home from work and picks me up for our mini vacation. I'll warn you though I'm mostly working on social work and modern latin america homework so I don't know how exciting that'll be for you

Yeah, if you're down for Facebook chat I'd also be interested and can forward you my name! I can't super afford international calls, but I'd definitely be up to talk online.

My girlfriend is back in the hospital with either an infection in her knee, a fracture in her knee, or both. How the hell she could have fractured her knee while she was on bedrest with the knee immobilized is beyond me, but here we are. It would be more tolerable if anyone at the hospital could find their ass with two hands and a map. It took 4 hours, multiple angry trips to the nurse's station, and the fortuitous appearance of her surgeon to get pain med orders written and dispensed.
I'm on meds for blood pressure now, and I'm responding well. My weight loss was having impact, but the doctor and I agreed that it was too slow a drop. Better take meds now and maybe be able to get off them later rather than sit in hypertension for an indeterminate amount amount of time.
So I figure for pain-related stuff this might be a good place to ask for advice. I got my wisdom teeth out under a general on Monday, and sInce yesterday afternoon not even my oxycontin for breakthrough pain is tamping it down a whole lot. I took two 4 hours ago and now I'm awake with the pain again not sure what I can take right now.
is this something I should ride out or be going to the doctor about dry socket or upping my pain meds?

just got back from the three month post-surgery check up, and I'm apparently pretty much cured! yay!
also, since I was getting blood work done anyway, we got them to schedule diabetes screening as well, because my surgery wound was taking a while to fully close. end result of that is that I am right now not diabetic. so that's also good.
