WWE put the Pillman gun episode up on the Network after all. Hopefully they get through the last 6 or so 1996 Raws and we get to 1997 which IMO is a great year due to all the experimenting they did to combat WCW.

Actually on the subject of wrestlers who appeal to me almost too much, this twitter exchange between Jervis and Chuckie today was great. Like every time they tweet at each other.
I love the moment right after he says "I'll go down on every wwe superstar" where he knows he's started the bit but nobody else does, so you know everyone was sitting there mortified for a full 2-3 seconds

It's puro history hour, today let us discuss the time Minoru Suzuki fought Kenta Kobashi for the GHC heavyweight title. This is relevant because he is now GHC heavyweight champion, you see.
This is Suzuki's first ever shot at the GHC heavyweight title, sadly not fifteen years to the day of when he finally would win the belt from Naomichi Marafuji (the man Suzuki experienced his only other championship success in NOAH with, when they teamed together in 2005 to win the tag belts) because fuck my desire for things to be neat like that.
This match would set the stall for him invading All Japan the next year and taking the Triple Crown championship from then champ Taiyo Kea. The only downside of this being that it meant I had to watch Taiyo Kea wrestle, twice, and the only thing that could bring me down at a wrestling event more than him would be a nail bomb.
This isn't the best match of Kobashi's 2 year long title reign (honestly that award probably goes to the match were he wins the belt from Misawa at the Dome), however it is one of the only matches were you will see a roughly five minute long headlock spot that pops a crowd. So come for the ridiculous headlock spot, stay for Suzuki being a dick to Kobashi's arm and Kobashi still trying to murder him with it.
I believe Bill Watts brought it back during his ill-fated booking tenure in 92, and it just took them a stupidly long time to get rid of it (around 96 I think?).

The Christian title reign era was great with Regal's Roundtable, The Hurricane-Paul Burchill feud, Zach Ryder retiring Tommy Dreamer... Just a solid hour of TV a week.
