Ok the ability to view who wants a pin is now live...but as I said...crude.
Click on any pin and if wanted users are found, you'll see a button that can toggle the list from "Available From" to "Wanted By" and vice versa.
The limitations are, you can't create a separate trade with a user for the two options, that is, if you add pins to trade to a user who is in the Available list and then switch to Wanted and add more pins, ALL the pins will be added to the single trade with that user when you review offer.
It can't distinguish between the two modes because it was never designed that way and that's much more work than providing the list
But anyway, that should at least help in the quest to find people who want a pin
p.s. @Fitzchivalry merch2 alternate year is also done.
This idea might have been mentioned already so it might already be getting worked on, but I would like to see little pictures along with the names of pins when updating the digital lanyards. Just the words alone makes it hard for me to find certain pins. Especially since they are not in alphabetical order.
Yea I know that, I still have trouble finding them and would like a pic that is up there without the need to roll over. I think it would make it so much easier. But maybe I am in the minority. Maybe if there was an option to make it alphabetical. That would ease my frustration when trying to find the new pins I am adding to my collection.
I'm just going to put it here since people will probably look here:
EAST PINS WILL NOT GO UP ON THE SITE UNTIL SUNDAY/MONDAY.
I'm about to go on a little break and in my haste trying to do it right now, I broke the database and had to ABORT ABORT ABORT! And now my car is here and goodbye

Cross-Post from the PinMash thread because of PinnyPals relevance:
I just updated PinMash with the latest pins to match PinnyPals (so not the East pins yet), but wait, there's more!
While this is not a user facing thing, it means that in the future you all won't be sitting and waiting on me for updates. Basically I made some code changes to hitch my PinMash wagon to the PinnyPals horse, effectively passing the buck to @grgemonkey to keep the pin database up to date Now I have a 5-second administrator action I can take to resync the PinMash database with all the most recent data and images from PinnyPals. PinnyPals doesn't have a true external API for this stuff, but I was able to scrape the sites internal API to get all the pin data, and scrape the generated javascript for the image URL mappings (which my code uses to download the images to the PinMash server). If @grgemonkey makes any significant changes it may all far apart, but for right now it is working and I have successfully passed the buck :P
I do come bearing something in return for this buck-passing though. I put a new version of the API out there (the old one still works as it did if you already built something around it), that actually returns the ID that PinnyPals uses for a given pin instead of the PinMash internal one. This should make it a lot easier for @grgemonkey to pull PinMash scores for particular pins over there.
The new pins will (as usual) start out at 1000 just like they all did when new -- but changes I made a while back will give them some extra mobility in the rankings until they build up a suitable bulk of ratings.
I've got real nice changes lined up for an update after PAX East too, and these will be user-facing ones 8-)
@dmosinee Awesome I will create you a more public API to simplify matters, now that I know some one is actually using the data. If there's anything specific you want it to return, let me know but for now I'll assume pin id, name, img URL. Also updated to the new pinmash API.
Hey, I was thinking, would it be possible to have a generic pin available for trades, that would allow people (me) to be able to post trades were the pin sent in return doesn't really matter
I like that idea, as I like to get people the pins they want, occasionally regardless of what they have to trade in return, but it feels like more of a convention thing. Like, someone comes up to you at a con and goes 'can I have that?' and you take whatever they have to trade you. The trade section may end up flooded with trades and become less useful if a large percentage of new trades created were anything goes.
I'd put in a new section dedicated to that sort of trade.
It's possible, dev on the site is currently at a stand still though as I'm not finding myself with any free time. I need to finish a rather large project at work then we'll be back in action with new features. I tried to get the site to a reasonable trade platform before this period :P

would it be possible to have a count of total pins in existence as well as a count of pins you've collected? I was trying to determine these numbers the other day and realized there's no readily available count of how many pins currently exist -- I just had to count every listing on pinnypals, and then had to count the rows/columns in my "collected" section. seems like it'd be easy enough to just add a numerical count somewhere. sure it only takes a minute or two to count all of the pins but it's kind of a pain especially since new pins are constantly being added.
If he is going by date on the back, should not some pins be listed twice?
Those pins have alternate year versions under the one listing. The only time the primary pin isn't the first year printed is the 2012/2013 variants, mostly because the 2013s I considered to be more of the default people will own and 2012 is the one people would hunt for, so I didn't want 2012 to be the default and people not in the know would create a lot of disappointing trades.
It should always be the year on the back (as this has no ambiguity), I don't own a Clicker pin to have noticed that Please always inform me of corrections, I won't notice everything.
Im not a variant collector so maybe this is less important to me. But ive been displaying my pins in yearly binders based on the year they were released.
When I saw the 2014 variant on the Clicker I was planning to put it into the 2014 frame. It felt wrong, and then I ran out of room for it, so w/e. 2015 it goes out of technicality!
The only way that it could have multiple year versions is if it was printed multiple times. Naughty Dog reported the print run was limited to 1000, and that's the minimum print run, so they should all be dated 2014.
That said, I lump it with the 2015 set, because that's the release time frame.
Odd question about PinnyPals.com -- is it possible to create a direct trade with another user asking for pins they don't have listed (under Offered or Wanted)?
Also, is it possible to create one via Android? (It could be me; I'm not particularly adept at mobileOS so I can't figure out how to Drag-n-Drop via touch-screen.)
From their profile you can start a trade and add any pin you want to your side of the trade, just drag it from the All Pins column. You can only add pins they have listed as Available for pins you want from them.
It's not possible on Android because the site generally doesn't work great on touch screens, the drag and drop being one of the biggest issues. It needs *major* improvement.
It's not internally, they are actually all archived, you just have no access to them. So it looks like a delete but they'll be back
Sorry that's been on the list for ages. A lot of things have I'll be quite honest and say the site isn't getting any updates excepts pins and podcast till at least the end of April, I'm 150% swamped with life right now.

Thanks for the fix Grge
That is likely an easy trade considering most people don't care.

Any chance we could add the dates new offers are added to the trading post? Or add a section that shows new trades added since you last visited?
