btw: the difference between Hololens and the Nintendo AR stuff (though that is pretty good for its time) is like comparing the occulus rift to the virtual boy

The only thing that makes minecraft not amazing for VR right now isn't the graphics, it's the inconsistent framerate. Climb a mountain, look out at the game loading new chunks along the horizon, game goes slideshow and you wanna puke. Tooling around building stuff and exploring caves is great.
I'm filled with genuine enthusiasm and goddamn wonder. How pathetic.

I mean, if you already own a PS4 there is bound to be good stuff going on over there.
But this conference is fucking balls to the wall. Backwards compatibility that's free if you own the older games, real functional not gimmicky AR, bunch of great games... It's just a bunch of great stuff.

Not VR, AR.
Table in the living room was overwritten with the world surface and turned into a real, persistent 3D mine craft you can walk around, Lean into to peek inside windows and stuff, and then pan/zoom to go underground or whatever.
You could connect to a server with a bunch of players, zoom out to city scale, and have a living awesome ant farm just kind of happening there.

The big issue with any sort of active-combat MMOs is you still need to design them for people who consistently have 150+ ping; part of why "right click until it dies" works so well is that. Mordor style combat doesn't work nearly as well when you have some fraction of the playerbase with an input lag two thirds as long as the window to parry.
Well, honestly, the best solution is to get most everyone under 100 ms, though that's non-trivial.
Still, fighting games consider 3 frames (50 ms) a fair, albeit hard transition.

Sony cannot compete with this. Nobody can.
This is goddamned nuts

Nintendo already does this with their AR stuff, it's actually super impressive it's just never used.

I literally screamed out loud.
Has a new burger been announced?
*faints*
Yeah, the AR movies in Bravely Default were pretty excellent, and the in-game integration at one point was really well done.

It will let you commit to a bold new strategy for your struggling club only to back out of it after receiving Asian and African support.

Yes just fill a cargo vessel with dollars and send it to us thanks
You should just be glad they have the rules of the game correct, they've messed that up before on NHL.

I suspect actual sailing is one of things that would piss gamers off.

I can't see what the monster even is. It's too damn dark.
But if this stays under a few hundred dollars, it'll be significantly cheaper than lego!
(I have no idea what's going on, but I like to see everyone so excited!

I wanted Pirates of the Burning Sea to be awesome.
Awesome pirate captain creator.
But the game was boring as shit.
