I don't think there were this many kidnappings in FF4
Edit: Alright this is the best bit of animation in the game so far, Tidus's looking off to the left and then right at Wakka, using nothing but his eyes
well, i appear to have spent $50,000 of squad 7's military funds on a beach episode. I guess that's one way to deal with grief.
is there a point to going through this like Largo's side story or is it just gonna be goofy nonsense
Some characters unlock new potentials by completing the reports. Also, having just completed the base game, I can say that money isn't that valuable once you upgrade weapons enough to be capable of reliably hitting heads (rifles/sniper rifles) or max damage (lances, machine guns). Upgrading your tanks to slow their slow, inevitable death is good, too.
As hilarious as the conditions for A-rank missions are, most of them are doable the first time around without too much fuss and with only a minimal* of save scumming required.
*optimal start placements, seeing what the terrain is actually like since the map is useless, suicide charges to figure out what setpieces do, suicide charges to see how many hits are needed to kill something, etc.
Rikku is helping the Al Bhed kidnap ALL the summoners, not just Yuna.
And while Tidus counts Rikku as a friend, she has no idea how he'd react to her saying, "Oh yeah, we're keeping all the summoners locked up in Home for their own protection."
Yeah, sure, he MIGHT understand.
Or he might blab.
And Wakka definitely won't be so understanding.

there's a lot of mechanics that feel clumsily implemented but for a first effort I'm willing to forgive a lot, especially when you're doing something fairly original
chapter eleven can go burn though, that was a miserable experience in every sense

Ahahaha that was one of few missions I got an A-rank in without too much trouble because I accidentally put the Eidelweiss exactly where it was supposed to go to give the mission-specific support. INTO THE MEATGRINDER, SOLDIERS.

oh that wasn't the problem, there's like one place the tank can go once you get off the beach
the problem was that barely anyone could make damage stick to their elite shocktroopers, who I found out are several levels higher than my units
taking the last base took a year and a half because they had 3-4 shocktroopers clustered up behind sandbags, and added reinforcements every turn
it was just really awful

"They said that Maester Seymour went to Macarena Temple."
"Macalania Temple."
"Aye."
I have never seen a more quickly dated scene in a video game in my whole life, holy shit, god damn
I will say that I'm now playing Tidus as trying to get all up in Lulu's stuff, though
Then she was like "All right, I suppose I could add you to my list"
And I was like "god DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN"
Ah, so you got Lulu's branch.
Here's the one for Rikku, if you're curious.
Rikku: Wait up, I'll go with ya!
[They hike up to balcony]
Rikku: Yunie's not getting married, is she?
Tidus: Seems that way.
Rikku: It's your big chance, huh? (Elbows him)
If you choose "I don't care."
Rikku: That's no thing to say! I think she should get married and stop being a summoner.
Tidus: You serious?
Rikku: Yeah.
Tidus: Why?
Rikku: Because it's tough, you know? In the end, she has to fight Sin.
Tidus: Yeah, but she... She would never marry someone who wanted her to quit.
Rikku: (Sighs) I guess you're right. Too bad.
If you choose "I guess you're right."
Rikku: Ho-ho! That's the way to go! Then, you could take her away and live a quiet life somewhere. Yeah, sounds good to me!
Too bad.
If you choose "I'd rather have you, Rikku."
Rikku: Oh! H-honest? (Giggles, then smacks him a few times)
Tidus: Ouch!
Rikku: See ya! (Leaps off balcony and cat-lands on the level below, then waves.) [In Al Bhed: "Maybe someday!"]
---
Rikku: Say, you ever think about gettin' married?
Tidus: Me? No, never.
Rikku: I think about it a lot.
Tidus: Aren't you a little young?
Rikku: Some people marry really young in Spira, you know.
Tidus: You mean people our age get married?
Rikku: Yeah. Fiends are around, and there's always Sin, right? One of them might get you, you know? Lots of people marry the first person they fall in love with, just like that!
Tidus: Really?
Rikku: I'll probably be the same way.
---
Rikku: You an only child?
Tidus: Yeah.
Rikku: I got an older brother, myself.
Tidus: Huh.
Rikku: I wish I had some younger brothers and sisters, though...
Tidus: So ask your parents.
Rikku: Mom died... A machina went on a rampage...
Tidus: I'm sorry.
Rikku: When I get married, I'm gonna have lots of kids! That way they'll all have brothers and sisters! What?
Tidus: (Crestfallen) You're really thinking about your future, aren't you? That's great.
Rikku: It's pretty normal, I think. Hey, maybe Yuna's back! (Runs off)

I see, that's interesting
And Tidus come on the girl is like 15
i mean he's like 17 himself isn't he?

They'd have to have Auron explain it to Tidus to make it more clear
I don't think there were this many kidnappings in FF4
Edit: Alright this is the best bit of animation in the game so far, Tidus's looking off to the left and then right at Wakka, using nothing but his eyes
To be fair
It's the work of a serial kidnapper with very good motivations
Some characters unlock new potentials by completing the reports. Also, having just completed the base game, I can say that money isn't that valuable once you upgrade weapons enough to be capable of reliably hitting heads (rifles/sniper rifles) or max damage (lances, machine guns). That's stupid
...Almost as stupid as THIS ANIMATION OF RIKKU PEELING HERSELF OUT OF HER WETSUIT OH MY GOD
Welcome to my least favorite scene in the entire game!
I'm never going to be able to take this seriously
Look
I know
The scene is fucking awful
But...give Rikku a chance.
For me.
Rikku: It's not quite what you think!
[Wyborn stares at television, waiting for further answers; none are forthcoming; Wyborn turns slowly to stare at Stilts's avatar]
FFX-2 stars a summoner-turned-idol who (X1 ending spoilers)
I don't think you should be taking anything seriously.
Oh, you're playing X1. It's okay, I guess.
I mean, yeah, but that's X-2, which was designed to be goofy.
FFX definitely is designed to be a balance.
The thing I most fondly remember about X is the deathmetal final battle theme and the battle system, but the story never really grabbed me.
but I got to the forest of the ancients in ff7 and quit and would like to play that again
so
man I love that theme
what an awesome song to fight a boss to
Nier has the Song of the Ancients. Close enough!

Full moon tonight, buddy
Yuna
Girl
Please
Not two hours ago you summoned the Goat Lord Devil Ifrit to beat up a hideous kaiju so completely that nothing was left afterward
You ain't need no man and you ain't need to focus on other people's happiness
heh
heheh
Pretty much.
I'm enjoying it so far for the most part
there's a lot of mechanics that feel clumsily implemented but for a first effort I'm willing to forgive a lot, especially when you're doing something fairly original
chapter eleven can go burn though, that was a miserable experience in every sense

Hluuuuuuurgh that fucking scene.
I literally stood up and turned off the game the first time I got to that.
Ahahaha that was one of few missions I got an A-rank in without too much trouble because I accidentally put the Eidelweiss exactly where it was supposed to go to give the mission-specific support. INTO THE MEATGRINDER, SOLDIERS.
Oh, you sweet summer child. Wait'll you see X-2.
I remember loving the gambit system
This time though, not so much. It's feeling kind of dull and so far there's a shiiiit-ton of grinding
Do things get significantly better after, say, the 15-hour mark? I don't remember how much this opens up
If you come forward right now we can settle this privately
But if you don't then I'm taking this matter to the police
oh that wasn't the problem, there's like one place the tank can go once you get off the beach
