    Don't like Crytek?

Can't say I blame you. Their games look pretty but play awful.

I think Ubisoft would of been the best choice. They know how to make a good open world shooter.

I need this game to be made. It will be the first time I scream "WOLVERINES!" in the middle of a shooter and it make a slight amount of sense.

"Open world" is just a marketing buzzword. Let the game be made and see how it works.

    Huh?

  • ArchsorcererArchsorcerer Registered User regular
It doesn't tell me much about the game.

Neither do phrases like "first person shooter" or "role playing game"

They do, however, tell you something. An open world game is like Far Cry, GTA, or Read Dead. It is not like Call of Duty or Bioshock Infinite.

Open world tells the consumer that they will be able to explore the world and tackle objectives as they please. Far Cry 3 was a excellent example of an open world first person shooter, which from everything I have read is what Homefront wants to be.

These phrases do not tell you much, but they do tell you something, often by exclusion. If I say we're having pizza for dinner, sure you might not know what type of pizza, or what the toppings are. But you know its not burgers or sushi. Similarly, "Open world" is a promise for a specific type of game. On that Ubisoft nailed with Far Cry 3.

I played Blood Dragon for a while but I was not pleased with the fort captures and the distances between the objectives.

Let's see what Homefront comes up with it.

I liked the fort capping because I kept coming up with new and exciting ways to troll the guards.

    The traveling did suck though.

The USA being conquered by anyone is so goddamned ludicrous. And I am not a USA USA USA GO AMERICA kind of guy, it is just ridiculous and not even in a cool way

China could do it...if they found out how pull out the logistics to pull it off with their massive army.

Russia could do it... in their prime as the USSR, and also that logistics problem. Unless Canada was puppeted by Russia. Or Mexico, like in Red Dawn.

Oh, oh, Canada! Their army is pretty good by US standards... although they'd need a fuck-ton more manpower.

    Humph.

(And this is a hypothetical situation where nukes and such aren't in play. Let's just say Superman threw them all into space.)

Well, a few nukes here and there without notice can fuck anyone up.

But the idea of liberation is something everyone can identify with.

And in case anyone was curious what the name of the new studio working on this game is:
Deep Silver will publish the upcoming video game under a new Nottingham-based in-house developer, Deep Silver Dambuster Studios. Dambuster is the third Koch Media developer, along with Deep Silver Volition and Deep Silver Fishlabs.

Except I can already get a Ubisoft game from Assassin's Creed, FarCry, Splinter Cell...

Their games may be fun, but they are all remarkably similar.

I was wondering about that. What part of the Ukraine are they in? With all the... mess happening over there, I hope they're alright.

    Also, yes.

Homefront: The Revolution has been delayed to 2016, Deep Silver has confirmed. The game had previously been due to launch later this year.

I had a dream this game came out a year ago

    And it sucked

  • ArchsorcererArchsorcerer Registered User regular
I've read that the build used last time it was shown to the press was super buggy.

I hope they can add competitive multiplayer.

Its a lot of risk and resources to make a competitive multiplayer game. Unless it has CoD or Battlefield in the title, most people will move on after a month or two. See Titanfall.

Imo: co-op multiplayer would be a better investment. Easier to make and adds more content per dollar. Also always fun.

People can register to join a future beta on the Xbox One: https://www.homefront-game.com/register/

I don't have a new console or high-end PC so I might not acquire the game. If someone with greater interest wants to start a new thread I have no problem.

The closed beta area that I played in looks like Philly, albeit roughed up.

the beta feels like a beta.

That video does not make the game look good. Boring gameplay, ugly graphics, terrible color pallet.

  • tastydonutstastydonuts Registered User regular
What's wrong with the palette? It doesnt seem very different from other "real world urban decay" color schemes.

Original Homefront was a less well executed battlefield game. The map design wasn't quite as good, with too many abusable geometry glitches. It was the first shooter I knew of using spotter drones, though, which made me play it way too long.

What is this I don't even.
