Jasper might be getting a redemption arc, but I personally don't hope so.
She's done too much to hurt those on earth and her mentality and rhetoric are just way too toxic. Sure, there was a sympathetic moment at the end after the monster fusion, but that one moment doesn't counter everything she's done.
Yeah i think any kind of redemption is going to come as part of a selfish revenge sacrifice...I get the impression that Jasper doesnt know that the diamonds corrupted the gems, shes been collecting the creatures that anyone who knew what happen would probably avoid, and her decision to attempt to fuse with one of them, while made at an irrational moment simply was the act of someone who had no idea that could happened to her.
She may learn what shes become is due to the diamonds and fight back as a last ditch way to get revenge but i dont see that quite the same as a redemption arc.

Really dislike the new fusion design (two forearms coming out of a single elbow, no thanks), but everything else about these two episodes was a work of meepmorp.

I like it as a reflection of how Steven/Amethyst bonded over their feelings of abnormality. Though it'd be a weird choice for a Steven/Pearl fusion for example.

Completely agree. If you had to guess what a Steven/Amethyst fusion would look like, I think most of us would have guessed awkward or goofy and the design fit that pretty well.
It was such a great set of episodes. Huge storyline moments and battles aside, I really liked seeing Peridot and Lapis making art together.
On the diamond moon base, that sphere thing they passed up while going upstairs to the diamond computer terminal is the superweapon that caused the corruption?

Earthlings
Oh yeah. I was a little off put at first with how jokey she was but then I realized it's Steven and Amethyst so that's completely on point. Smokey is a bit more jokey than either but I can completely see that blend resulting in how she acted.

I mean, I'm not going to deny that she's a terrible person. There's no questioning that.
But I find if it fascinating how much of her bitterness and hatred (Which seems to be a very strong factor in who she is) appears to be related to Pink Diamond.
It humanizes her behavior in a way I really wasn't expecting.
Her final lines are just so intense and give so much to her character.
At the very least, I hope she eventually is able to understand what really happened on Earth.

Haha yeah, I loved that.
It's a mix of Amethyst's penchant for smack talk, with Steven's confidence.
Also people were wondering some things about fusions that I think the show has been pretty clear on:
Yes, Rose and Amethyst fused would also make a Smokey Quartz. But no, they wouldn't make the Smokey Quartz we just recently saw. They'd have different appearances, personalities, and memories. Fusions aren't separate entities that get poofed into existence when gems fuse. They're two people sharing one body, and if the fusion is stable, one connected mind. They are literal representations of two individuals' relationship. The closer and more harmonious the relationship, the more the fusion is able to act a single person. However, even with the most stable, best matched fusion we've seen-Garnet-the two individuals remain. They're so in touch with each other they might as well be one person, but they're still there. Steven doesn't have Rose's memories, or if he does he can't access them, so Steven's fusions wouldn't have any of Rose's memories either.
Also, logically, the minds aren't completely connected anyway as there are tons of past plot points (like the Friend-Ship arc) that wouldn't have made sense if that were the case.
Also^2, it's worth noting that Rose's fusions would probably be stronger than Steven's, if simply because Steven still isn't physically and... gem-ically as strong as Rose was. Rose was able to effortlessly dispatch bunches of gems if flashbacks are any indication. Steven can maybe fight and win against some gems one on one, at this point.
I am so very, very glad that Steven didn't try using his dream powers on Centipeetle to try and help her in Monster Reunion. If the mental connection of fusion was enough to spread the corruption to Jasper...

Corruption
I think actually Steven has dealt with corruption before and now I think I know what it is. Based on centipeedle and Jasper corruption feeds on negative emotions . Centipeedle wasnt ok but she only reverted when she recalled negative and traumatic memories. Jaspers infection sped up as she got angrier and took over completely the minute she mentioned her lost diamond.
In Catfingers the more panicked Steven got the less control he had over the cats who jacked his powers to make more cat heads. Once Greg was there and he felt safe and managed to fight them. In this case its worth noting Steven accidentally created a independent being that shared his body(and frighteningly its still there) .
So I think corruption is basically malware in the form of a new feral conciousness being uploaded into a gem and exerting control over the existing one. The more scared or angry the gem is the easier it spreads. Stevens healing is based on love so he has the tools to defeat it but he doesnt quite understand how to yet

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
aside from Opal, it looks as though most fusions seem to tire Amethyst out quite a bit after long battles. She was the most out of it of the three after Alexandrite fought Malachite.

I likewise subscribe to the theory that (Earthlings)
Rose was part of a fusion forming Pink Diamond (and I suppose, Lion is part of the other portion), with other Gems being told that Rose shattered Pink Diamond
Gems generally being forbidden to fuse with other gems to keep the power in the diamonds' hands

Given Jasper's reaction, I am pretty sure that
Rose straight up shattered Pink Diamond.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
It makes sense, but it's too obvious. So I think they're doing something else.

I don't think it's obvious per se.
Given how Rose has been built up in the eyes of Steven, it would show some flaw to her character, that she actually DID grow and change when she got to earth, and it makes her scenes ofregret more poignant with her actually doing something considered monstrous.
I mean, Bismuth did create the breaking point FOR Rose, maybe she saw M.A.D. Coming into play.

farg i will never say this again but
i love you bro
This is the first thread I've made in my 10 years on the forum.
I'm proud of my little baby.
"Then you really are better than her."
Yeah.
The best I'd expect from her (if she ever becomes uncorrupted) is letting go of her grudge with Rose.

Yeah
Not to mention she was already pretty on edge. This was supposed to be a day of relaxing and taking her mind of Jasper, remember?
