I ALWAYS had to pay additional state tax when I lived in NY.
Now that I'm in NJ, I always get a little back.
That said, I'm not going to see my NJ refund until end of February because, for whatever reason, NJ is a special snowflake that institutes massive delays every damn year.
But that's only about 1/4 of my federal return anyway.
Breakfast today was the usual hotel fare. Most of it was carb-alicious, so I could not have it. They did have these weird egg things, which looked like a child's conception of an omelet. They were uniformly round and yellow, as if they were made from Eggbeaters instead of regular eggs, and folded around a slice of, I shit you not, "American" cheese. You know, the kind that says Cheese Food Product on it and individually wrapped in plastic film.
And with sausage gravy, they were fucking delicious. Being "free" (or at least, part of my hotel fare) helped, too.

They're dangerous because it's free votes to whoever lies the most, basically. But being the most dangerous doesn't necessarily make them especially culpable. It's worth making the distinction that they aren't voting out of malice or pure self interest. They're not deliberately voting at the expense of others.

Everyone I know who voted for Trump are exactly who you'd expect: people who previously voted for a Republican, because they never gave a single shit about anything except the promise of more money via tax cuts.
That's not true - they also care about racist dogwhistles and socially regressive virtue signaling.
Trump voters I know of run the gamut.
Racists make up the majority. People who live out in rural areas and casually throw out words like "coon" as a synonym for black people, like that's ok. Watch nothing but right wing media. Think cities are bloodsoaked hellscapes (because of all the minorities ofc), and they're the last bastion of american freedom, which is synonymous with hiring your buddies at work, listening to country music, and owning a big ole truck even if nothing has ever been in the bed.
There are selfish people like my uncle who just want tax breaks tax breaks and more tax breaks. No matter if the world burns. Die with the most money.
And everyone's fave: earnest, uninformed people who just go with whatever whim strikes and heard this Trump guy is smart and good at business and will bring back jobs. Idiots, less charitably.
Of all the groups I feel least angry towards the idiots but at this point I'm ready to chuck 'em right into the hellfire with the rest.
My coworker kept talking about her friends who voted for Trump being like "I didn't think he'd do the things he said he'd do!"
Which is infuriating
Mostly it was kids following what their parents voted, I guess
I also spent like two weeks confused before she clarified that these were her white friends
