I still don't understand how Nashville hasn't gotten their shit together re: transit.
Like, we should have added an extra lane to our interstates a decade ago. We're so behind that we'll never catch up to the increasing traffic volume.
There's a train that will stop around the city and take you downtown, but downtown encompasses a lot of areas, so unless you actually work DOWNTOWN, you've then got to hop a bus to get to your destination.
So you can sit in traffic for an hour on the interstate in gridlock to go 20 miles, or you can ride a bus/train (for free if you're government) but it takes two hours to get there, so 2 hours a day commute vs 4.
It's one of the bigger failings of Nashville.
Same here with Atlanta. Because of the early influence of GM being huge in the city in the old days. The town was built around the car. Our bus system is ok, but our elevated rail is just pitiful and only helps those who pretty much live in town anyway. It's unfortunate, cause you go to other major metro areas and it's at least useful.
well also atlanta covers like four states now and it wouldn't be unreasonable to just fly from one end to the other
