That whole deal with New Line and Del Toro about the Hobbit was disgusting as hell.

it takes some pretty big balls to say a trilogy with a production budget of 300 million dollars had horrendous losses when it cleared 3 billion at the box office alone.

I've spent way too much time figuring this all out for me to not post this:

    1985: Clue
1986: Big Trouble in Little China
    1987: Raising Arizona
    1988: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
1989: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
    1990: Die Hard 2
    1991: Terminator 2: Judgment Day
    1992: The Muppet Christmas Carol
    1993: Groundhog Day
    1994: Drunken Master II
    1995: Dead Man
    1996: Independence Day
    1997: The Fifth Element
    1998: The Big Lebowski
    1999: American Beauty
    2000: Best in Show
    2001: Ghost World
    2002: Suicide Club
    2003: Kill Bill Vol. 1
2004: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
    2005: Grizzly Man
    2006: Children of Men
    2007: Hot Fuzz
    2008: WALL-E
    2009: Star Trek
    2010: Cave of Forgotten Dreams
    2011: Drive
    2012: The Master
    2013: The World's End
    2014: The Grand Budapest Hotel
    2015: Mad Max: Fury Road
    2016: The Nice Guys
    2017 (so far): Get Out

Aside from the complete lack of Marvel Studios movies, I'd say this is a fairly accurate representation of my taste in movies.

2010 was the hardest year for me though. there were only a handful of films i loved that year, and twice as many utter disappointments.

my shortlist of runners up was harry brown, a prophet, black swan, and the girl who kicked the hornet's nest.

but man, between the wolfman, district 13: ultimatum, 44 inch chest, shutter island, life during wartime and splice...2010 just kept kickin' me when i was down with regard to flicks i got hyped about.

Thoughts: Decidedly less superhero movies than I anticipated, though sci-fi is obviously a thing. 1996 was a year that didn't hit hard for me because I don't even like Mars Attacks! that much (yes, I know about the Rock). 2015 was a really good year for movies.
