There where a lot of unhappy people on the official forums during the Anniversary event. It was a perfect storm of making dances event exclusive, all the skins being legendary, and the fact that after a year of playing all the long time players were getting nothing but dupes in 4/5 boxes. Jeff made a thread about it and it currently has over 5000 mostly very unhappy replies.
I mean they need people to buy these boxes, so they had to make them more attractive to their long time players.
before i heard of this, last night I was thinking about how I have far less than 20% of the unlockable stuff in Overwatch, but I get 1 or more dupes in nearly every box
my rate on dupe epics in particular feels SUPER high
Laff, not when you have 2 screens, and only ever get like one non-dupe item.
I mainly use it to see what event loot I have.
Honestly, it takes like 2 seconds. And most of the time I just update from the summary screen on the website by comparing the total number of items for each character from the hero gallery.
I'm with you Death of Rats. There are a few of those tabulating your loot sites, I've tried them all, personally it's interesting to see the different implementations.
So, that means I've gone through and done that process three or four times now. Who's the crazy one now??

Right so I think I'm done with Horizon unless I'm in a group, or until people have more time to learn it.
I tried repeatedly and futilely to get people to follow me down an unguarded flanking path, at one point almost capping A as the musical half of a Lucio-Ana duo while the rest of the team ran around elsewhere or hesitantly danced around the choke.
Another point I was by myself on the point while three teammates were fighting halfway to B, making me suspect they actually didn't know where A was
Horizon is the worst map in a game full of bad maps.
It's something really.
(I actually really like the 3vs3 maps, and am baffled how the team can't extrapolate that level of tight design over to the larger maps. I suspect it's because CP and payload are just shit objectives.)

I mean, opinions and all, but this sounds more like just flat out hate for what Overwatch is.
I think the maps are amazing, and the win rates they have for them state that they play like they are at least. Many people have strong opinions on them irregardless of what the reality is. Also, I think a lot of people who hate certain maps feel that way because there are aspects of how they work they do not understand yet, and are frustrated since that lack of knowledge skews the results they have on them heavily.
I rather like Horizon and think there are no major issues with it, but my opinion on that is likely as ill supported as most of the hate. We have had very little primary exposure to it so far that 90% of the frustration simply comes from not knowing the damn thing yet so the void between people who get it and don't is HUGE. Also, the map is a very different style than the others so far. That is a good thing though, because who wants near carbon copies of other maps with a new skin?
Give it like 2-4 weeks for people to really figure it out, then see what the opinion is. It might not change, but kneejerk reactions tend to be wrong more often than not.

Larger maps are way way harder to design than small ones. Especially objective base maps.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
As long as Hanamura exists, I will be fine with all other maps. I rather like the design of Horizon, it's just a matter of getting teammates to group up and communicate. And well, welcome to Overwatchonline multiplayer gaming!

I still have not figured out the hate for Hanamura. I actually rather like it, because there is a lot of interesting play for the second point.
I know the second point really feels like it favors the defense because of how stupidly easy it is for them to get back on it, but at the same time there are huge possibilities for offensive pushes because it has so many weird ass approach angles. I guess part of me likes having 5+ minutes to spend working away at the enemy team most of the time (sometimes it is just a drawn out exercise in futility, but only sometimes).
Oasis used to be my least liked map because it was just so hard to deal with the points. It seems like the best heroes for each map changes so when I say, pick Mercy to go with for the whole match, she feels much better on one map and not so much on the others. But I learned to work around that and started to figure out the maps nuances. I think it is because their newer maps seem to be getting less and less straightforward and thus take much longer to learn.
Oh man I was laughing so hard this morning that I forgot to screencap a wonderful interaction.
We barely lost on Route 66 and our Genji (of course) IMMEDIATELY STARTS SCREAMING AT ME IN GAME CHAT.
I was Lucio and had 20 something eliminations 6 deaths and over 2 minutes of objective time.
Someone from the other team told the Genji something like "Hey man, that Lucio was a real pain in our ass the whole time".
Genji apologized.
Having someone on team call you out and having enemy team defend you before you can even respond is one of the best things
I swear, 90% of the time I see someone complain about someone on their own team in all chat, the person being complained about was a priority target for our team because they were wrecking us and we only won because we took them out
and the person complaining was not a threat to us at all

most of the maps in this game are pretty good (with a couple exceptions)
I have horizon between vol and hanamura on the badness scale. The only good matches I've had on it, the defenders camped point A instead of blocking for it. I think people haven't figured out where to stand since there's no clear "I AM THE DOORWAY" sign.

Horizon is pretty bad compared to most of them
