Is it possible to setup a 2k brigade detachment? Doesn't seem possible for Necrons
You could do it, but to do it you'd hurt synergies in your army. I.e., with Warriors you want 20 in a unit or 10 Immortals in a unit....but to get the brigade, you'd have to take less.
So, ew.

I am not going to complain because they are actually producing these faqs where in the past it wouldn't exist at all.
CA is kind of the combined one. If you have the smart pdf codexes/rules book they get updated automatically. I mean you could build one giant FAQ file if you want.
I shouldn’t need to reference this many PDFs and books to play a game.
Yeah it's getting silly. Release a compiled PDF that shows all of the general changes, then have sections dealing with each codex/index/whatever. Give this process another year and it will be a complete mess.

Ooff, Bobby G got another points bump to 400 from 385. Right after I just sent mine off to be painted. Oh well, my army is more about being thematic than anything, so it's whatever, I'm still running him either way. Just going to have to come up with another 15 pts somewhere in my army.

If every hard copy of their books came with a code for me to get the auto-updating PDF's that'd be nice. I'm not paying the price of a physical book a second time for that privilege.
That is one of those curious things why doesn't GW like comics send a code for the PDF of it in every codex.
I know I have to update my kindle but there is something about holding a real book

I'd like to have the PDF's, for the updating part, but I want the real books too. GW's books are so well made, they are part of the hobby to me. The smell, the feel of the pages, etc.
I shouldn’t need to reference this many PDFs and books to play a game.
Yeah it's getting silly. Release a compiled PDF that shows all of the general changes, then have sections dealing with each codex/index/whatever. Give this process another year and it will be a complete mess.
Isn't this basically what they have, minus the chapter approved points adjustments? The core rules FAQ/Erratta lists the general changes, and then each codex has its own pdf.
I agree there's too many sources, but I don't really think there's any way they could possibly have living rules AND still lean heavily on paper-print books. Even one PDF outside of the codex is clumsy and a pain in the ass to cross reference.
This is why I'm just annotating my codexes as FAQs are released. I only have to look in one place.
I am kind of torn on the whole CP handout instead of working on generation and regeneration. I mean 14 points is my go to now. Which is a lot of cacophony especially since I normally ran 7-10 cp in a 2k game.
I am looking forward to trying it and maybe even using some stratagems I haven't before. I used daemon shell for the first time this week and it was a huge play but traditionally it isn't worth it. Though I do use gift when having fun. I like free daemon princes.
There is a lot information to absorb though. I am curious to see how it effects everything. The smite rule doesn't hurt me I rarely take more than 1 sorc. The nerf to tide of traitors again not a huge thing to me I run 10-12 man squads for chaff and that is it. And I run pretty much pure CSM/EC armies so soup nerf affects me not.
Still not seeing a lot of a reason not to have cultist over power armor outside I place Chaos Space Marines not chaos cultist with space marine bros. Never liked AL traditionally because of that.
I do agree that the whole codex, chapter approved, faq and errata method is quite obtuse.
However, this is the first time that I can think of where GW has taken such an active interest in the balance of the game.
Hopefully it'll become more refined as time goes on. They seem to be way more receptive to player feedback now so hopefully it'll improve.
Could you ever imagine beta rules which change based on public comment? Because I couldn't.
Also going through the chaos faq:
Chosen got buffed. Now any chosen can take a weapon from the melee weapon list. You can do an entire unit of power weapons plus normal weapons. It is a quiet buff in there. They use to be able to just swap the boltgun with a pistol+chainsword.
Page 136 – Chosen, Wargear Options
Change this unit’s wargear options to read:
‘• Any Chosen may take one item from the Melee
Weapons list.
• Up to four Chosen may choose one of the
following options:
• Replace his bolt pistol with a plasma pistol.
• Replace his boltgun with one item from the Combiweapons
or Special Weapons lists.
• Replace his boltgun and bolt pistol with a
lightning claw.
• An additional Chosen may replace his boltgun
with one item from the Special Weapons or Heavy
Weapons lists.
• The Chosen Champion may either take one item from
the Melee Weapons list, or replace his boltgun and
bolt pistol with items from the Champion Equipment list.
• One model may take a Chaos Icon (pg 153).’
That is interesting. Chosen were overpriced havocs but now they bring stuff to the board no other unit does in the codex.
Gift of chaos got a quiet nerf changing model to unit so you can't pick out special weapons or sergeants anymore.
Other bits, DttFE+Excessive violence can lead to extra attacks off each other. But excessive violence attacks can't dttfe if they are from a dttfe attack. Or so it reads.
Also when you bring a prince off the cp thing, feel free to give it any and all equipment you want. So free princes with wings fully decked out seem okay.
Edit:
Also noise marines get death to the false emperor off of pistol shots when they die.

What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
There's no rule specifically against it. You'd just need to have the points and, if doing a tourney at least, be able to do it without using the same non-troops/dedicated transport unit more than 3 times. Plus assuming beta rules be able to do it with each battalion being more specific than the top level detachment keyword.
Tri-Optimum reminds you that there are only one-hundred-sixty-three shopping days until Christmas. Just 1 extra work cycle twice a week will give you the spending money you need to make this holiday a very special one.
Also noise marines get death to the false emperor off of pistol shots when they die.
I'll have to doublecheck the wordings, but I think Noisemarines are free to fire their weapons at any enemy in range when they die, even if they're in combat (they just can't shoot at the enemy they're in combat with, except pistols)
So, if a Noisyboi gets knifed in the face he can fire off his blastmaster at a nearby tank and he can get extra shots from dttfe. Fun!
I'm still not so sure. The change is certainly welcome, but they still have stiff competition. Is a 19pt chosen with 2x powersword/axe attacks better than a 19pt berserker with 6x chainaxe/sword attacks? Or cheaper plasmahavoks? or even double wound/invul save possessed?
They can really doubledown on variety, but I'm not sure I'd take them over any of the specialists.

I think they can beat out havocs if you are use them with alpha legion just because you get another plasma gun in there as you can have 6 in a unit, infiltrate them, and then fire them twice and then charge with 3 attacks each to clear chaff. Rather decent unit there. Even if you fill out the last 4 with bolters+chainswords.
I quite like most of the changes, especially getting 2 more CP than I expected.

Sure, you're just limited by how many point you'll be left with.
I posted this above, this is 2 Necron Battalions without anything else-1250 pts for 13 cp total
HQs
Overlord, Lord, 2 Crypteks + some toys like Ress orbs and weapons.
Troops
2 units of 10 Immortals and 4 units of 10 Warriors
That's 4 HQs, 40 Warriors, 20 Immortals, and another 750 points to spend in a 2k list.
Hell, you could spend 205 points to get another Cryptek and 3 Units of Scarabs for a Fast Attack Detachment and get ANOTHER cp for 14 cp total and you are STILL under 1500 points, lol.

the DeathGuard FAQ is now almost more magenta text than not.
Nothing that really concerns me other than the poxwalker nerf, but really there isn't much a blob of 25-30+ poxwalkers can do that a blob of 20 can't.

So I was looking through various armies' Relics because the extra CP let's you be a little more generous with regards to handing them out including some toys for the HQs.
Relics (and Warlord traits) that offer a chance to give extra whenever stratagems used or cp expended now have additional value because of the extra cp floating around.
This was a really good change, I can't wait to play!

The deepstrike beta rules mostly I think. Also the whole nerf to warptime.
Yes, this. Deepstrike primarily. Some people are thinking it's the end of the world.
I like 'em, but as a DG / Necron player, I may be biased.
Same, I have Space Wolves and Necrons. For now not to worried about the deepstrike change but I do think this basically ruins my dream of putting my entire army into drop pods.

I don't know about the brigade, but 2 Battalions was already pretty simple-
An Overlord, Lord, 2 Crypteks, 2 units of 10 Immortals, and 4 units of 10 Warriors costs 1250 pts including some toys for the HQs.
That's 1250 pts for 13 cp. *shrug*
For example in the main rulebook it specifically says you cannot warptime/hive tyrant command/equivalent a unit after deep strike now.

Extra CP is pretty nice. Could have 20 points without too much trouble, though at that point it becomes difficult finding things to spend them on.

They can take a boltgun, pistol, and chainsword for each model giving them a base 3 attacks (4 for the sarge) for 16 points. Not terrible.
Then you throw in the customization.
