Yeah this album is colossally good, it might be my favorite album of the year so far and there have been a lot of really amazing albums put out this year.

Don't how many people are into their noodley weird black metal meets post-rock stylings, but the new Deafheaven sounds pretty dope so far. Much closer to Sunbather than their last album, but still pushing in new directions.
Having said that, I'm not sure there's a bad time to post it.

Hello Nasty is a record that has aged remarkably well for me. When it came out it was easily my least favorite Beastie Boys album to date, but nowadays it might be like my second favorite.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
Kero Kero Bonito is going on a world tour and posted this video with a very catchy "we're going on tour" song. Tanukichan is opening for them at most shows in the US, but at some west coast shows (including the LA show, yay!) they're co-headlining with Frankie Cosmos.

wah i know i'm behind the times a bit but i'm getting sucked into a lot of dreampop style stuff at the moment. this track hooks me as well. note: it's pretty much the same as the last song i linked
edit: wait not the last one. the one before the last one
The Hold Steady have a new, very solid two-song EP out. One track has the Hold Steady-est stanza they've done in a while:
"The amphetamines did what amphetamines do/
And she was chewing through her cheek at the National Zoo/
And the dress she was wearing made a nice case for natural selection."
I am such a mark for Craig Finn's dirtbag poetry, goddamn
They took all their awesome 4 minute songs and turned them into 12 minute snoozers
This is my least favorite thing that bands do. =[
I feel like it depends on the band and the style, prog metal bands turning their 9 minute songs into 15 minute songs is pretty okay. If you like prog metal.

Yeah. It's a different beast when bands are turning their 3 minute pop songs into ridiculous long jams.
The White Stripes are the exception that gets a pass on this.

Fiery Furnaces were pretty great at turning their songs into completely different beasts at every show.

This post opened up a really fascinating world for me! It's like a combination of cheesy 80s pop/synth/vaporwave and mashup culture, basically laser targeted to my interests.

This past weekend being Pitchfork in Chicago got me nostalgic for a band I saw at their 2k9 show that I didn't quite know how to process, but I knew that I loved them. The singer of Ponytail also makes goofy live show faces that put Dave Matthews and Este Haim to shame.
We went to see Kesha live this week, after seeing Cracker on a boat last week. It was a very odd contrast to go from a small booze cruise where where I was eye to eye about a yard from David Lowery (which was amazing) to a giant stage show with UFOs and confetti cannons. Both were great in their own ways and now we're possibly doing another trip down to Boston for another boat ride to see Roger Clyne. Busy year for shows for us. Now if I can just get good seats for Hanson life will be complete.

Yeah, definitely some TMBG, and a good bit of Neutral Milk Hotel mixed in there too. I really like them.
Shame the mix on the music video for this song is so fucked up, it's a neat video
