i feel like straight up moderate spook sabrina would be great fun. nothing in that trailer seemed even that explicitly scary - certainly nothing like the witch - and if the show keeps a decent balance of humour it could be in the sort of buffy zone

Okay, the Captain Marvel trailer is great. I love it.
BUT...
I think I was a little too hyped because they kept sandbagging it and sandbagging it and I know it's the Carol Danvers origin story and all and they can't just open the trailer with her getting a page from someone and explain Infinity War 2 but God Dammit that's what I wanted.
Still that trailer has me hype for some Captain Marvel, and some pre-Iron Man world building that doesn't involve papa stark or pym. I like that it was pretty much a Sam Jackson who was almost ready to close up shop.
Okay, I'm not usually one to nitpick SFX too harshly, but I think we can safely say WETA or ILM didn't put time into Realms.
Which is to say daaaamn, at least one of those shots suuuucked. Like, egregiously so. Like, 'did someone use MSPaint to make this while we did a jump scare cut and audio sting to detract from just how shitty this is'?

Yeah, I wouldn't say 'trying too hard'. I would say, an utterly disgusting reflection on 'both sidesism' in modern society. Equivalent to making a comedy movie about 1940's Nazi Germany where one brother is upset about the concentration camps, and one brother really likes them, and the mean old first brother keeps spoiling dinner by saying how its bad that we are killing all those pesky jews.
When the government demands you sign a loyalty oath to the President, then there is not a need to keep calm and be nice to your brother over Thanksgiving dinner. In that situation, you learn from the people during the civil war, and you take up arms against your brother and drive him and his disgusting friends into the sea.
