as you progress you play better and better decks and players.
This is the crux of your argument and I'm 99.99% sure this is not correct. You have a source? I think you are confusing CE with hearthstone's draft. With anecdotal evidence my match 1 is always the hardest.
I don't go 6-7 wins every time, but so far I've only lost gold 1 day and broke even 1 day in the last 10 days of CE. Usually I come out ahead about 200-600 gold. Last 3 days have been 600 gold days. Today I'm down 400 though, but I'm 4-0 on my current run so?
So I think others linked to the relevant discussions from devs. I agree that it is not explicit, but it's pretty clear from the way they talk that they're working within event win-brackets for most things.
I would really appreciate you sharing any insight you have on your list or the meta if you're having a lot of success. As I mentioned, I'm playing drakes and really just dragging by. I've seen GB lists posted that I think would do amazing (as their pilots have said) against the common stuff I see, but that's miles away for me, so I'm in the market for anything that I might be able to branch into.
Edit: I take it all back. I just went 7-1. My deck is perfect and I'm a genius. Got Induced Amnesia and The Mending of Dominaria, can't think of two more junky rares.

I think you are missing the point, you don't have to do well in constructed events to make them worth while. In the long run, the in game card rewards are so obscenely generous that it isn't even close. Let's say you go 2-3 every single time in constructed events. That means you lose 200 gold a run and only ever get uncommons. This is much worse that you actually will do. And at 4 wins you start getting rares.
So for 1k gold going 2-3 every time you'd get on average 12.75 uncommons, 1.5 rares, and 0.75 mythic rares.
From a pack you get: [4.6667, 1.6667, 0.839, 0.1198] C/U/R/M cards and [0.3333, 0.3667, 0.175, 0.0750]C/U/R/M wildcards.
So IF you go 2-3 every single time, in the short run you'd give up wildcards for an absolute ton of uncommons and about double teh rares. In the long run this is still better than packs.
But, you aren't going to go 2-3 every time. It isn't hard to actually make gold there. In reality you might lose 100 or 200 gold a day as average player for 3 runs and sometimes those runs will have guaranteed rares that have a 33% chance to be mythic. So for 100-200 gold in 3 runs you are getting something better than a pack.
Then I went to a terrible 4 color deck that splashed for conclave tribunal and thief of sanity and I went 1-3, never got to cast thief
and now I've got a boros deck again that seems solid (3 healer hawks!) and is 6-2. Servers seem to be having some serious trouble at the moment, kicked me out of my game 6 when I was about to win, luckily it gave me a win instead of making me lose my third game.
Bunch of UI improvements as well. Actually shows you how many extra turns you have saved up now.
While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.

I don't disagree that playing events is way better than buying packs. I'd never buy packs with gold when I could use it to draft or do events. But a mythic wildcard to me is worth approx. 20 (I made up that number) times more than a random mythic, because it gives me the mythic I want. Rares are even more multiplicatively valuable. So I'm not arguing that playing CE is a bad way to get cards, just, to go back to the beginning of this conversation, that it doesn't replace the need for a 5th card solution and a way to get wildcards regularly.

Have seven more cuts to make. Here's all the on color cards in my pool.
I'm by no means an authority, but what'd I do is
-Witness (low impact)
-3 Torch Courier (extra low impact)
-Maximize (all the good targets are too expensive)
-Tenth District (there's enough better two drops)
-Blade Instructor (low impact)
-Hammer Dropper (low impact)
-1 Whelp (expensive, slow)
+Vigil (big huge things hit face better)
+Command the Storm (removal is good)
Have seven more cuts to make. Here's all the on color cards in my pool.
Take Heart, Gird for Battle, and the Torch Couriers are all really bad. You have two many five drops, most likely, though at least they're all decent at closing out the game. The Hazda Marshalls always seem ambitious to me; actually getting to attack with three creatures seems difficult. Smelt Ward Minotaur isn't bad, though it's better in Izzet, and you should absolutely be running Command the Storm.
Likely cuts: One Hazda Marshall, Maximize Velocity, Take Heart, Gird for Battle, three Torch Couriers, one Barging Sargeant, add Command the Storm.

Ugh, I keep losing in the constructed event. I am not sure if I am on an unlucky streak or if the deck isn't that great or if I can't compete.

Take Heart is bad? I thought +2/+2 for W was the bread and butter combat track in limited.

i really tend to avoid low-cost picks in draft, lol...
i would cut black and arboretum elemental, and also gateway plaza
i would add indrik (legit bomb), a ceratok (you lack 4s), and a recluse (kills healer's hawk, blocks ~most flyers tbh).
maybe then cut a pack's favor for a collar the culprit, since you're dropping removal.
Take Heart is bad? I thought +2/+2 for W was the bread and butter combat track in limited.
If it was +2/+2 permanently for W it would be an amazing card but it's single use and to get the full benefit of it a rather specialized single use at that.
Theivey decks appear to be returning control of creatures when their (new) controller dies.
Makes me think they're setting up for n-way Magic, instead of just 2-way.
If that's not already implemented in direct battles.
Akroma also fought in the arena! She went there to fight khamal.
I checked the Wiki! Everyone fights in the damned arena it's insane,.
Wow. Dominaria is a small plane.
It's actually huge. Like the whole continent that the Odyssey and Onslaught blocks took place in was never mentioned before that or pretty much since.
I wish they'd go back to onslaught and made a set bringing back that block. That's when I was really into magic for the first time as mtgo was just coming out. I did a few onslaught leagues which were the funnest thing until they toOK them out. If I ever remember my mtgo account info I still have an unopened onslaught 45 card box? Think it was 45. They were required for leagues along with a few boosters, then once a week you cracked a new booster to add to your pool.
The game feels fast now. Super quick animations where everything just zips all over the place. Not sure if I like it?
Anyways, how are we gonna do direct challenge here in the forums? Do I just post my in game handle?
If someone want's to do one of those fancy spreadsheets or whatever I'll post it in the op. I'm not even sure how to identify people as I thought names were no longer unique.

So aside from proving my constructed decks are largely an uncompromising trashfire, the direct battles appear to be flaky, or at least I was disconnected from the middle of one mid-fight.
The game would not then reconnect, and instead I had to kill it and restart to rejoin the match.
I hear there are just server issues they're working out with the combination of the latest build and everyone in the world doing direct challenges for the first time.
Also, combat tricks in limited, especially in a deck that plays 17-18 creatures are not bad. You should only have a few (like, 3 tops?, and probably only 2) in your deck so that you're not holding dead cards, but they are bread and butter includes for aggressive decks to get creatures through. That said, Take Heart isn't a great one - Sure Strike is much better.
Also, straight removal is always better than a trick, too (always better to include, there are of course random situations when a trick will do something removal can't).

People saying a single copy of Take Heart is bad in GRN Boros decks are off their rockers!
@BoomerAang Squad I’d cut the Torch Couriers, Hunted Witness, Maximize Velocity, Intrusive Packbeast, and a Whelp. I’d like to find room for Command The Storm but I think this deck would rather have the Barging Sergeants and the Inescapable Blaze, and you can only have so many expensive spells, so leaving it in the board is probably right.
I'd cut the Pack's Favors, the Tenth District Guard, the Ochran Assassin, and the Arboretum Elemental for a Recluse, the Ceratok, the Foragers, the Indrik, and Golgari Locket. If there was ever a deck that wanted a Locket, it's this one.
The black splash is a little dicey but it contains your two best removal spells, you'll have four sources of black mana, and two Generous Strays to help churn through your deck. The black removal spells are also still good on turn 10, so having the mana to cast them on curve generally isn't the end of the world.
I will throw mine out when I get home and can see it, but, storytime...
Had two incredibly satisfying wins back to back last night using Rakdos Punish Burn.
Game 1:
Opponent has a board and has just dropped a doom whisperer. I've been on two lands the whole time, but Rakdos burn cares not for screw. I lightning strike them in the face with an electrostatic field out to bring them to 6. Their turn, they kill my field with something and swing in with everything, bringing me down to 2 from 14.
For shits and giggles, I've had 1 Act of Treason in this deck for awhile and, despite it being for my own amusement, it's helped me win several games, including taking a Galta for lethal. I had it now, but on two lands, couldn't use it. Boom, draw Dragonskull Summit, take their Doom Whisperer, exact lethal. Huzzah.
Game 2:
Opponent is at 10. I lightning strike them at the end of their turn with an electrostatic field out and bring them to 6. My turn, I Sovereign's Bite and he responds with an Expansion / Expulsion. Instead of 4 damage (with electrostatic field out), he takes one. I lightning strike him as well, bringing opponent down to 1.
Opponents turn, he does nothing of note. My turn, I draw a mountain (sigh), but I had had Ritual of Soot since the beginning of the game. I play that and electrostatic field deals the 1 damage lethal.
Ohh yeah.

1-3 combat tricks in Limited Boros is really good.
