I didn't have internet the past few days, and I was so hungry for the direct, but I had seen a single screen of this game and it sent me in a frenzy. It was like living in the 90s all over again.
I am absolutely charmed by the art style and can't wait to return to this game. I got very close to beating it on my 3DS VC but got thrown off the wagon near the end due to hitting a wall in dungeon 6 (I think?), and due to some VC vs in-game save confusion I accidentally lost a few dungeons of progress. With a modern save system by my side I will gladly take on this game.
Who cares what it looks like. The gameplay is gonna be bitchin and we're gonna get to solve some puzzles and explore some dungeons and rescue a princess who is very much not Zelda.
It would be super awesome if the game came with options for different looks. Play in the super cute mode we just saw, or go to options and switch to LttP graphics, and as a bonus, here is the game exactly how it looked when it first released! I know that won't happen, but damn it, these forums are a place for us to express our hopes and dreams!
I feel like you could safely. Tweak some of the obtuse stuff , add a whole new section to the map ,extra item subquests, and the dx content. The game has a lot of one off areas they could reuse too
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

It's in the north-westernish "corner" of Goron City, kinda looking over it. You can sorta make it out from the world map from a top-down perspective. The carving itself in-game looks GREAT.
Edit - If you can't see it, hint: the road leading north out of Goron City, his fingers are near that on the left side.
I totally see it in the map, now that you've pointed it out. Honestly, I can't recall if I saw it in-game or not, been a while. I'll have to go back and check.
So I've got a BoTW related question. I'm almost done with the game. Did all the shrines, all the sidequests, doing the last part of the Trial of Sword in a bit. All I have left is The Champions' Ballad and then punching Gannon in the face. I'm not going to bother getting all the seeds, that's just overkill. What I'm wondering is if I should bother upgrading armor? I haven't bothered yet, and there's so many damn pieces that I've had to switch between I'd never have used a set bonus even if I had tried before now.
Well if you made it that far you probably don't need it. But if you have the stuff for it, or can get it easily. I'd at least boost up either the Knights Armor for pure defence, or the Beserker armor if you collected it. (Names may be incorrect)
Never worried too much about utility armors. The hot/cold/lava resist ones can be handy for the first upgrade or two but it sounds like you're passed needing those. Besides I never bothered with full sets. Between a helmet, fire/ice weapon and consumables it was never a problem.

Upgrading armor was neat and not a pain in the ass enough for me to be discouraged about doing it. Only one armor set's requirements on upgrades leaned that way.
The Sheika Armor is like mandatory to upgrade for stealth bonus. Tons of application there. After that you can pick one other piece of armor you think looks cool and stick with it for combat / upgrading it.
I probably should have done that sooner then.... I can just run at most things now. My beam reflect is at about 90% success as well so I'm not scared of much at this point.

I never got good at beam deflecting and ate shit most of the time. Long live max upgrade armor.
I upgraded the Climbing Gear armor as soon as I got all of the pieces for it - it was such a QoL improvement being able to climb that much faster and spam the climb-jump without much stamina loss. I did this pretty early on and it helped with exploration a ton.
If you've already done most of the exploring? Well, uh, the climbing gear upgrades won't help you too much.

Yup! Each individual piece increases your climbing speed, and the set bonus reduces the amount of stamina it takes to jump-climb. I wish the set bonus had been to let you climb unhindered in the rain, but alas.
One set that's well worth it is the ancient armor set. the Set bonus is a whopping 80% damage increase to all the funky glowy blue blade weapons (It's been so long i cannot remember the name), possibly also the master sword. Even better, this stacks with an Attack Up buff.
I mean, it's complete and hilarious overkill, but it's overkill with a CHAINSWORD and that's what we're here for, yes?
I always max out the Ancient Armor and the Fierce Deity armor (or Barbarian if you don't have the Amiibo). Sadly the Ancient Helm looks silly to me and the Amiibo replacements aren't much better. When I want to murder stuff and still look good, I swap out the Ancient Helm for the Hylian Hood.
If you don't want to be bothered with fetching rare ingredients, you can probably max out the Knight Armor and/or the Hylian Armor with the materials you picked up and didn't sell. Knight Armor with Hylian Hood looks pretty dope, just sayin'. Gotta look good for when the princess sees you.

A bit of info on the climbing gear. It does make you climb faster, but it also drains your stamina faster. You will burn the same amount of stamina per distance, so it doesn't make climbing more economical. It's something to keep in mind because it won't exactly help you climb something you couldn't in the first place. That said, it's obviously worth it so you waste less time, and the set bonus does make it far faster and economical to jump climb up everything.

Yeah Climbing Gear is not a stamina saver, although I think its set bonus is less stamina used when jump-climbing so it becomes more efficient in that sense. Something in the game makes you use less stamina when jump climbing, at any rate.

I was not aware that it made you use stamina faster! Makes sense, honestly. I just love the climbing gear for the time it saves. I still wish there was a set that made climbing in the rain possible, even at a slower pace or whatever.

You can kind of already climb in the rain, it's just tricky to do. IIRC it's something like "climb seven steps, climb-jump upwards, slide down slightly above where you started repeat"?
You definitely don't get the height you get from ordinary climbing, but given copious stamina potions I suspect you might be able to climb straight up Zora's Domain if you really wanted to?

Oh yeah, I've used that strategy to climb during the rain. I think it's three-four steps before you jump, and then you slide, and repeat. I just think it's odd there's not something like an advanced climbers set, or even a special potion you can brew to climb in the rain without slipping.

Climbing in the rain: let Link move his hands three times, then immediately jump up. You'll still slide down but you won't lose 100% of progress. Does not work in climbing very very tall things. If you don't immediately jump after the third hand reach, you'll slide down.

The real reason for that is probably just that they wanted to encourage you to walk around more and take alternate routes whenever rain got involved - or, in the case of Zora's Domain, force you down a particular path. Which, y'know, there's a whole lot of stuff you miss if you just immediately climb and glide everywhere. (My brother missed the stables by Kakariko and hence everything to do with horses, for instance.)
It's a bit weird, though, because there's only really three places where rain is constant (that lightning plateau, Faron, Zora's Domain) and of those the game really only points you towards one of them (ZD) and the rest are kind of just... there. Also if you've taken the obvious guided route through the game (Great Plateu->Kakariko->Hateno->Kakariko->Zora's Domain) then the rain in Faron is just a non-factor due to all the waterfalls.
Rain is a real pain in the ass, but I guess I understand why it's a thing and they don't give you tools to circumvent it? It's kind of like how you have limited stamina for climbing in general and can't just grapple your way up to the top of the Dueling Peaks. There's also similar reasons for them cutting the clawshot from the game.
I'd be somewhat fine with climbing in the rain if you didn't slip more that you climbed. 2 steps forward, 1 step back, still means you moved forward 1 step. So it takes significantly more stamina, that's fine. Negative progress though is just stupid stupid stupid.

The impression I get is that the intention is that you can't climb in the rain.

If that's the intention, it would have been nice if they cut the amount of times it rains in half. Just feels like it rains often and for long periods of time.
Still enjoyed the game, but the times I would try to get a specific shrine or korok and would have to wait or do something else because of rain were irritating.
Just finished The Champions' Ballad. That was some quality work. Now I just need to get the Hylian Shield, Royal Guard Cap, and then punch Ganon in the face. I'll be sad to see this game go.

I hate the rain,
In a world of treasure chests filled with not much I could go for a bunch of minor upgrades like that.
There should have been a second ninja outfit with those palm claws they use for climbing.
While I’m thinking about climbing I hope (if they make another with the same basic idea) the next game has a couple of enemies that can climb!
The impression I get is that the intention is that you can't climb in the rain.
