Again, is this the story? That he knew? That he was involved? Because if not, IDGAF. It’s shrug-worthy.
If he knew, which is up for debate since all I’ve seen is tweets without solid sourcing or verified facts, then he can fuck right off.
Nah, this is wrong. You don't get to plead ignorance for soliciting prostitutes from a trafficking operation. Human trafficking is so widespread and pervasive in the USA, especially among the massage parlors that offer sex work (like, almost all of them are implicated), that if you aren't doing your due diligence to make sure everyone is there of their own will when you solicit then you're 100% complicit in the trafficking.
Wait wait wait ... HE was trafficking women? Are we going with this? Is this the official story? Cuz holy shit, if he was involved in that, then god damn, get fucked.
If he just solicited prostitution, who gives a fuck?
Because who he solicits matters. The man is worth $6B - if he's going to this sort of place, it's because he likes the sort of person who will handle him there.

Human trafficking is abhorrent but ICE also has a history of claiming human trafficking is occurring in immigrant communities they want a pretext to raid, so I’ll approach that element of the story with due caution

Ah yes, the conscientious John, who checks the green card of all the ladies involved before partaking. Quite common in the prostitution world, or so I’m told...
I'll be curious to see if the league takes any action to Protect the Shield™ here. Surely if a player were caught up in this he'd face some kind of fine or suspension, right? Or does Goodell not player that card anymore?
Yeah I know nothing will happen.

Other people being careless assholes who happily solicit trafficking rings does not make it acceptable behavior in this or any instance.
He'll be "suspended" for 8 games, which just means he has to wear a fake mustache when he enters the stadium for a couple of months. Probably the same disguise he wore at the massage parlor.

I’m going to assume that 99.999repeating% of people that engage in this activity aren’t checking, aren’t worried, or are ignorant to the issue. I’m not defending him, I’m just saying your take is (while ideal) pure fantasy.
Meanwhile, there were apparently six Chinese women who don’t speak English involved. So that’s a huge red flag. And I’m adjusting my opinion on the matter accordingly.
Sports radio was just theorizing that this could be a franchise-altering, if not league-altering situation. They think he may be gone, not given a slap on the wrist.

A fine that will probably somehow help him with his tax breaks.

It would not surprise me slightly. Richardson was just forced by the league to sell his team for something minor compared to this. At the very least Jonathan (Kraft's son who's already team president) taking over seems likely

They could easily do a DeBartolo too...make him sit for a year knowing that he could use it as an excuse to quietly leave the franchise to family and exit the spotlight for a while.

Richardson did worse than someone soliciting a sex worker. Fucks sake, the Panthers’ new owner and his bronze, veiny dick-and-balls paperweight is far worse than soliciting a sex worker.
The key is in determining Kraft’s culpability/awareness of the trafficking. If he knew or it is reasonable for him to have known, that’s basically jettison Kraft from the league straight into the sun.

if he knew, he has bigger concerns than the franchise, he could be sharing a cell with R. Kelly.
Please note that I absolutely am not calling for Goodell to do anything at all to punish Kraft for his involvement in this. Properly speaking, this is none of the league office’s business at this point, or possibly ever, just like any number of off-field player incidents also have been none of Goodell’s business. I am just saying that whatever he does, you can be sure it will be stupid, and bad, and will make things worse, and many people will have good reason to call him a fucking idiot for it. This is gonna rule.
I don't know what world people are living in that think someone without a criminal history and the resources to afford competent counsel would end up in prison for soliciting sex.

Reading an article about this on The Ringer, it looks like over the course of the investigation they recorded two separate incidents where Kraft was involved. Not just a one time visit apparently.

Soliciting sex is ::raspberry sounds::
It’s the trafficking part
Following this to it's end, people think that everyone caught soliciting is going to be charged with a count of human trafficking? Because that's not going to happen. If there is evidence that these women were held against their will, that charge is going to be on their captors.
I would download a car.

This...both legally and morally I couldn't care less about the solicitation. Hell I think sex work should be legalized and regulated for the safety of those involved. But trafficking is an entirely different subject. If he was complicit or even knew...I hope and pray that losing his franchise is the minimum of what comes his way.
I hold him responsible for the trafficking as much as I hold potheads responsible for cartel beheadings. The fault lies with the people actually committing the crimes and the ones refusing to discuss rational laws to regulate the sex industry.
Other part of my brain: But it's fucking trivial to find a 100% consenting escort. They advertise on twitter. They take Venmo. Why would you pick someone that obviously has a pimp and doesn't even speak the language?
I can't condemn an old-ass widower for paying for a handy, but I can't defend not finding an ethically sourced sex worker.

Picture this
You walk into this "massage parlor" you're greeted by a woman, probably Asian, speaking perfect English. She claps and several young, petite Asian girls step out in all manner of dress.
They don't speak, she does all of the talking for them. They don't look happy, some probably look scared.
Yet, it never occurs to you that maybe something more illegal I than prostitution s going on here?
Bullshit. He knew what he was doing. He's a billionaire, he went there for a very specific reason.
I'm waiting to find out some of the girls are underage but i don't know if you can. prove that without something like a birth certificate.

Especially if he was there multiple times like more journalists are starting to report
And if he got caught on tape twice, I find it unlikely that he was only there twice. It's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it. He went back to this place specifically.

Legalizing prostitution would probably do more to hurt human trafficking than any amount of law enforcement could.

No probably about it, if you actually care about protecting sex workers the way you accomplish that is by legalizing it.
sex trafficking is still a pretty major problem in places where prostitution is legal and regulated, it's not a magic catchall like people seem to think
major oversight is still needed even after legalization

So much pasty, billionaire flesh... *shudders*
Prices are all over the place though. Kraft paid $50 while some other asshole had to pay $130,000.
