Honestly I’d like a boring old Pokemon trainer movie next but I wouldn’t like Lucy to be the connective tissue because I thought she was very bad
Not as an attack, but I gotta bite; what about Lucy do you dislike?
I thought the performance was awful. Terrible line readings and overacting throughout. I think she heard “children’s movie” and went “got it, Disney channel” rather than picking up on what anyone else was doing.
I think her performance was pretty consistent with a lot of the early parts of the film, and she backs off a lot of her initial hokeiness the longer she’s with Tim.

As a person who knows very little about Pokemon, is this a movie I would want to watch?
@Pinfeldorf I don't think it's a movie you should go out of your way to watch, but it is fun.
I have zero connection to Pokemon whatsoever. Never played any Pokemon games, never watched any cartoons or animated movies. Prior to the trailers for this movie I could name maybe 8 or so pokemon from cultural osmosis and only identify images of 2 of them with any degree of certainty.
This movie was fun, and I would be willing to watch it again with my kids some time when it hits home release, but I really can't imagine ever choosing to watch it again on my own. Without the nostalgia factor or the background knowledge to appreciate all of the references mixed in throughout the film, it's just fairly amusing. It was done well enough that I'd be open to watching something else in the same universe if a trailer looked good, but wouldn't even notice if they never do anything else with it.
I played Yellow and threw Pikachu into the box because he refused to evolve into the much cooler Raichu and made Jolteon my new best friend back in the RBY days.
I'm a charizard man myself but I often gaze longingly at the arcanines, frolicking and wagging their tails and having a better stat distribution for building around flare blitz

Hit a lot of the nostalgia buttons and Pikachu was good.
Also I'm pretty sure I saw Joltiks on a power line. I Joltik, so...

He was my very first starter back in Pokemon Blue
Yeah, they seem to get the short end of the stick with the starter types. Lots of good fast fire glass cannons, lots of good bulky waters...

The greninja and Ditto were actual murderers.

I predict it'll be a sleeper hit at the box office.

If you think that seems like roughly the order you'd catch Pokemon when starting the game, you'd be correct.
I don't remember exactly what my end team was but I know I relied on Pangoro heavily
that boy was a very good boy
Well I used Lugia to beat Red on Mt. Silver so I guess I'm scum!
