So like...my inventory is a bunch of purple...like 3 stranggs...crap like that. I haven't played in over a year. I don't even know what stuff is anymore.
My small group of like 6 Destiny friends are coming back to this on PC in October so if anyone is interested in casual raiding we'll be down to run pretty much anything! None of us are very good but we've cleared everything through Last Wish and are very newcomer friendly.

It's way intimidating but it doesn't need to be. You can play the game and have a perfectly good time with whatever, so run around a patrol zone and try different guns and see what you like. Ultra min-maxing really only matters in the hardest stuff, and then only sometimes. There's a dizzying array of sources for what the best stuff is but that could all change in a month so if you're just coming back to the game don't sweat it too much, I'd focus on having fun.
I went through yesterday and scrapped... well almost everything. All my shaders, eververse stuff, pretty much every gun and piece of armor outside of whatever fashion I had put together on each character
It felt very very nice to do
But then I had to actually play the game, and since the expansion is just gonna kick me to 750 it seemed silly to do anything with the goal of raising my power. Then I looked around at what I could actually try to accomplish, what with all the exotic quests and such I never did
I'll also mention (cause I don't know how active the SE++ clan is anymore) that we've got a clan with a bunch of current and former forumers. It's mostly PS4 (and now PC thanks to cross save), people are playing casually rn until shadowkeep drops but we're usually very active and anyone is welcome to clown with us. I am very willing to help anyone here get Whisper/Outbreak missions done for the exotics

If you can find people to do it with you owe yourself a trip or two through Zero Hour, the Outbreak Perfected mission. It's great, very much in the vein of the Whisper mission but with a different flavor.

It was initially a secret quest on Io after finishing the Taken Blight public event at a certain spot as Heroic. A Taken portal's left up afterwards for a short time, giving you a chance to jump through. Once in, you need to both platform your way across a tricky area and beat the boss at the end to pick up the Whisper Of The Wyrm sniper-rifle.

Like Owenashi said, but to elaborate a bit further, it has to be the Taken Blight public event in the Lost Oasis section on Io.
When the public event starts, there are three particular areas on the map and a special Taken yellowbar boss will randomly spawn at one of them. Kill that boss and the Taken portal will open up on a rock platform. Your fireteam leader needs to interact with the portal to start the mission. I would definitely recommend having 3 players.

They're going back to an a la carte model for seasons/DLC this year, each one costing ~$10 a pop (which is ultimately good I think), but even if you don't buy it you'll still get a bunch of access to new stuff via the "seasonal pass" (it's a battlepass but not a bad one, too bad that word is just toxic now)
shadowkeep includes the first season (Season of the undying) for free so it's not an additional purchase
So the expansions like Shadowkeep and Forsaken you have to buy on each platform, but the Season Passes, aka the new seasonal content, will come with you no matter what you buy it on. Really cool, I just expected to have to rebuy them on all platforms.
You have to kill more people than kill you, until that part of the quest is done. It's not nearly as bad as the Last Word quest in D1 was. If you can get through that bit then honestly the worst part is waiting for the Witches Ritual public event on Titan to start three times because there's no way to make it go any faster.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Mars. I did Titan because there's only three Public Events and it feels like the rotation is tighter but I could definitely be wrong.

Hah, I plan on it (sort of). These 2 aren't quite where I'd want them to be if I was selling them (or maybe I'd sell them at reduced price? I dunno). Also the 3d printer isn't as smooth as I'd like (though I'm not sure who cares about that), so I'm working on dialing that in a bit more.

But after about a week of half-hearted grinding I gave up.
I've also realised I don't like anything that involves any kind of PVP, it's just not fun for me.
