It's kind of hard to completely ignore Food when multiple colors have themes based around it as a mechanic. UW's enchantment & artifact theme is possible partly because Food is available, and BG's whole theme is Food-based. You can ignore Food if you end up in colors that don't care about artifacts, sacrificing, life-gain, or stuff that wants Food, but you can't just pretend it doesn't exist going in.
There's a difference between "I'm going to ignore Food when evaluating cards for draft unless I'm already in cares-about-food" vs "I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist." If I'm in Green at the end of pack 1 and I've already drafted two Fierce Witchstalkers and a Golden Egg, my evaluation of Food cards is going to go up. But my initial evaluation is going to be based around how good the card is if the synergy fizzles on me.
The context for this conversation is "how valuable is Food on its own" and the answer is "not very much."
Right. Though I find specifically for drafts (and I'm not sure whether or not this reflects poorly on me as a player), after I've done a few drafts in a set I almost always default to drafting for archetype over drafting for individual card strength. Half way through pack 1 I'm usually settled on what my strategy is and p2p1 or p3p1 generally only amount to making me splash at most. So I usually stop comparing cards on individual value and start comparing them on "what fits in the deck I want to make" and I don't really budge much past forcing my vision for my final deck. Granted I think this strategy works a lot better when you're drafting against a robot on arena than when you're drafting against actual people.
Sure when you draw-go its called playing control and everyone applauds but when I draw-go for 6 turns before I can afford anything Im some kind of scrub.

At first blush, but +3/0 First Strike is actually a stronger ability than it seems, and I like the -9 except for the fact there is no way she ever gets to 9. She doesn't really defend herself, though.

Not at 5 cmc they do not. It’s a starter deck walker and meant to introduce new players to walkers but not be competitive

it's five mana for +3/+0 and first strike.
That's bad.
Intentionally bad.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

You say that (and I agree) but I like Oko the Trickster. Not for anything competitive but he fits the GU planeswalker role in my cube better than the BFZ Kiora I have in there now.

You can turn him into a creature and then use Vorel of the Hull Clade to double the counters on him.
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

That is in fact a thing you can do in my cube.
Which might be the only reason to use his 0 instead of his +1? Unless copying something just gives you the win then and there.
I broke a flash player's brain by getting Vivien's Arcbow out and never casting anything from my hand.
A good flash player would have just dumped every creature they had on the board and raced. And that was how i remembered ug madness was a fun tempo deck not some stupid 40 counterspell deck.
I see like 5 or so of them, but I dont know anything about them or whats worth using.
Also: got to 80 on my M20 Pass. went ahead and bought the 81st for the chandra spell style, and calling it there.
I also decided to splurge since yesterday was my birthday and preorder the 50 pack Eldraine bundle (and I've got just about enough saved for the pass too).

ambush viper is not so secretly the best thing about snapcaster mage and it's correct far more often than players recognize to just fire off a flash creature

You cant argue with math.

What if a card has X on it?
What if it has multiple Xs on it?
I draft all big numbers until pack three and then I panic and just auto-pick anything that costs 2 mana.
X is a letter Garthor
X is the biggest number
Theoretically it is infinite!
Theoretically it is limitless, not infinite. Because infinity isn't a number.
There are rules.

So, so snarky.
EDIT: Also kinda shitty?

I figured as much
Shes ok. Her abilities fit well in mardu knights

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

Yes, obviously

@Feral
What time can we actually start playing the new set?
Colorless like all lands are
Dang.
Oh well, was already level 100 but my gold my GOLD!
Quests appear to be bugged at the moment anyway. Mine's sat at 19/20 for several games now.
That's why I woke up real early to finish those quests!
