Child’s play is just a lame property

Childs Play is the Problem Child of horror movies.

I know the movies came first, but I hate that I can't mention PA's awesome charity on something like Facebook without some wag chiming in about the fucking movies.

man I remember as a kid dragging my parents to see Problem Child 2 in the theaters for some godawful reason. My mom made fun of me about it for years

T3 was just T2's plot thinly skinned over more explosions. Which was the point, they wanted to make money, you make money by rehashing things that already worked. At least Genisys got weird with it.

I think the ending of T3 was great, and it was only retconned away because that ending makes any further Terminator sequels not just unnecessary, but deeply stupid.

Makes about as much sense as a sequel to Doctor Strangelove.

Oh hey, I don't have a lot to say about it, but El Camino was not really needed in any way, but it was a perfectly enjoyable revisit to the world of Breaking Bad. I think it took a bit to really get going (though even a meandering, shaggy dog tale told by Vince Gilligan is engrossing), but ultimately Jesse's journey was tense and exciting and a nice little capstone on his character arc, even if it probably ends about how you assumed it would have ended had you written fan fic for this ten years ago.

My only real disappointment is that Gilligan's use of a more cinematic aspect ratio was kind of wasted on the small screen. Wish I could've seen this in a theater.

To be fair I would love to have seen Kubrick do a sequel to Dr Strangelove about the high command squabbling in a bunker about repopulation.

Genisys getting weird with it was the least of its problems - I think its execution was what let it down. I liked a lot of its ideas and could see how a better movie was trying to break out of it.

Honestly I think it would have been a lot better simply if Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke weren't so horribly miscast in it.

Genisys was such a bad movie, wow. At the end I just didn't give a shit, I wanted it to end. Was three the one where the terminator makes her boobs grow to distract the cop? I remember 1, I saw it on betamax at a friends and it was fantastic. Granted I was young, but it was just ... something entirely different. 2 was alright, but I don't feel any need to go back and watch it. I don't think I even bought that one. For me it peaked with "Come with me if you want to live." I mean, I remember the entire theatre literally cheered when he said that. I don't think I've ever heard something like that since.

The one with Batman was sort of ok? It was bizarrely convoluted with the cyborg with a heart who doesn't know he's a cyborg but it had that transport thing that was cool and the A-10s. Oh and the little girl (fucking why?) and young uh Hicks? Michael Biehn? Jesus I don't even remember the character's name. Oh, and the harvesting pens with the people, geez, that was pretty grim. Arnie's face deep faked onto a body that wasn't ready for primetime, now everyone can do it and it's every great scene if cinema history but holy fuck it's nic cage!

The new terminator doesn't really have the look of Robert Patrick who seemed to so good in the role, I really like that guy's work. I don't even really follow how it comes together, it sure as hell looks like some streaming material.

So it’s a feature-length apology for a succession of terribleness that, while it could have been better, at least successfully argues that the people making it know what the heck a Terminator movie should be about?

Jai Courtney is that weird archetypal “tall, rugged, ethnically-neutral, blank-faced, bland-as-unflavored-ice-milk, early 30s white guy” that Hollywood continues to unsuccessfully foist upon people a half dozen times before they give up and move on to the next attempt.

I hope there’s a support group where these guys can meet up. “Mr. Courtney, take a seat there next to Sam Worthington; Liam Hemsworth was just telling us about his upcoming audition for the Hallmark Channel. If you want snacks, Taylor Kitsch brought donuts.”

It's kind of a tradition, I guess, for the Terminator to say something snarky-but-true to cops? T1 has Ahnold commenting "I'll be back" and getting into the station with the car, T2 has Liquid Murder commenting "that's a nice bike" right before stealing it, and now Mintberry Crunch (because he's a hybrid of both berry and crunch) tells the cops straight-up that he's a walking weapon.

None of them are lying or joking around, it's only a joke for audience.

Alternatively, we've seen that the Terminators get more personality as they get more sophisticated, so they could each just have increasingly improved versions of the "be an asshole to humans you're about to kill" module because it's fun times for them.
